A few observations:

It appears MUTS has been moved forward...that vertical block structure aft of the radar mast. This is much nicer than the odd placement by the funnel on the Sun/Grand class.

I wonder if the funnel's birdcage casing conceals a waterslide? The image seems to indicate something other than vertical exhaust pipes are in there.

I wonder if the design might include an open/ split aft not unlike Oasis...I know she's not large enough for a central park-like feature, but CCL was toying with a design including an open aft superstructure.

Overall...much better than I expected, and it's nice to see CCL developing a truly new ship/hull after 15 years!

I am slightly impressed... And I think she is miles better then the GRAND class..

However, please tell me that they aren't losing the wrap around promenade deck. That is my favorite thing on ALL the princess ships.

I though the design was not going to be a new one but a 'Ruby Princess' variation?

It's hard to tell in that rendering. There are openings forward and aft which look like a covered promenade/boat deck but the boats block part of it amidship. There is also an overhang in the center which looks like there is a promenade.

To me it looks somewhat close to the Solstice class...

This looks interesting! Finally a new design. It looks as if an enclosed pool is aft behind the funnel and possibly there is a slide in the funnel casing.

Very interested to see what is to come.

Maybe Carnival will get this design?

I see that the new trend is to have the lifeboats on the promenade deck and not on top.

After looking at the picture a bit more, did anyone else get the feeling that this drawing is just a preliminary drawing and the end product might look different than what we see now?

For such a big ship there seems to be a lack of lifeboats, and the front looks very blunt.

yeah, it reminds me of that early Oasis image that we got back in like 2006 or 2007. It had the same level of detail and quality and we all know how different the final 3D renderings were from that early rendition. Who knows how much this rendering is hiding from us or if it even includes all of the final design elements as the ship is still a few years from completion. Wouldn't mind this as the final though, it has a really nice aft IMO. A bit flat horizontally like the other new princess ships but a nice curve vertically to make it feel less boxy. The one thing I'm wondering about is that open square down near the water in the back. It is located two decks below the promenade and appears to be an open hole where you can see right through the structure and out the other side. Possibly an outdoor viewing area but it seems awfully close to the water IMO for it to be a substantially developed area.

I think it's still a slightly altered version of all other ships around , it's not a NEW design , at least the Grand Princess was a completely unseen design when she entered service , and the QM2 is one single design , this is just another square housing block that floats , I actually like the new ferries entering service more than most cruiseships , look at Pride of Rotterdam/Hull , the new Stena Hollandica , Seafrance Rodin and Berlioz , Superfast X and ... , Blue star ferries , Brittany Ferries new ships , at least they are designing each ship from scrap or at least 2 ships for specific operational routes , why don't cruiselines take a look at that for a change ??

I would say : Build a ship like the new France design , or redesign the 1947 Caronia with Hull based on QM2 , a modernised bridge design and a Queen Victoria Funnel , move the superstructure a little forward and make a sun deck on the bow area with a pool

Or even better : the Normandie with a single funnel , higher superstructure , smaller funnel maybe based on the France and a more modern bridge design

Canberra with a lower funnel design based on Aurora's funnel , move the bridge forward to be in line with the rest of the front superstructure and make her a little larger.

Is there anyone that has a little time left to make an example of such a thing ?

Jochen

Interesting. You are only referring to ships of the past when you try to describe a new design that should be built but at the same time you complain that the designs of contemporary passenger ships are too repetitive.

That 's not what I mean , I also like the NEW France design but I would simply like something different , and I happen to like those ships , I do like some modern designs , QM2 , Le Boreal is really fantastic , why not more of those ships , ships that break with the standard design of a box boat.
