Great pics! Thanks for finding those. It's funny, I have yet to see EPIC facing starboard. All the pics seem to be of her port side. My cabin is on the starboard side why I am interested. EPIC is a ship where both sides are not created equal.

What's your cabin# Ernie? I have a few partial pics of the starboard side of the Epic, you might be able to see your cabin on those.

On another note, check out cabin# 14118 in one of the full size pics (it's the cabin right before the spa on port side). It's a Spa Balcony cabin and it's got a gigantic balcony! The thing is as wide as 3 of the regular balconies below.

I'm in 14139. It's a Spa Suite. The balcony should be a little wider, but unfortunately I wasn't able to snag one of the deeper balcony cabins on the edge. They were already booked.

If you have a pic I would love to see it.

Thanks!

Ernie

These 3 pics on Shipspotting should do it.

The pic is the easiest to spot, 14139 is directly 2 cabins forward of the scaffolding.

You can easily see your balcony here too as it's the last one before the "bump out" ends.

It's a little harder to see your cabin in this last pic, but you should be able to nail it down to 3 cabins that could be 14139.

I'm fascinated by this picture:

You can really see how NCL placed different venues at different areas of the ship by looking at the tinted windows. The bump "ins" and "outs" are pretty obvious too, same with the different locations of the exposed balconies on deck 8 and 9. Very interesting to say the least.

It's also interesting how painting the lifeboats mostly white reduces their visual impact. Had the boats been entirely yellow or orange (as many other ships' lifeboats are) then their position overhanging the hull would have been really visually distracting. I still think they look odd, but they've done their best to make them less so.

This doesn't leave much leeway for any final 'details' between her shipyard departure and her first guests in Rotterdam. Anyone going on her before the transatlantic?

Despite months of tongue wagging, in the end, Epic looks angular, strong and modern. If we're all honest, her exterior looks are as attractive as probably half of the new ships constructed in the past 10 years. She's no better or worse looking than Princess's Grand Class, Aida class, most MSC ships and even Celebrity's Solstice class. And the powder blue Oasis Class isn't a beauty from many angles either (Oasis stern view is far more unattractive than Epic's bow view).

Epic's exterior from the front 1/4 angle is not great. Her villa complex is too square and at least a deck too tall... it overwhelms the superstructure. But from the side and stern view, I think she looks very nice. Not streamlined and flowing like RCCL ships, but powerful and purposeful.

NCL doesn't need to make excuses for Epic. Along with the Oasis, she's the most intriguing new ship to hit the seas in the past 5 years. Her design won't match Oasis, but I think NCL invested in the right places - cabins, dining & evening entertainment. On these 3 key selling points, Epic should give Oasis a run for its money.

Time for NCL to place an order for an F4 ship. Epic's been so much fun to debate... we'll need another to fill the gap after she launches.

I think it's a little premature to speak about F4 or the success of EPIC. EPIC has yet to prove herself. All the bells and whistles in the world won't mean a damn if NCL hasn't fine tuned the details. I'm talking about the logistics of getting people on and off the ship, the service, overall product consistency, and food quality and presentation. These areas have been lacking in the past. Also, the onboard passenger flow of EPIC is untested. Will there will bottlenecks? Excessive crowding of the pool? No where to go if it is raining outside? Etc. Etc. OASIS has proven herself to be exceptional in all these areas, and it took a ton of planning and $$ on the part of RCI to make OASIS one of the most successful newbuilds of all time. I'll be interested to see how EPIC stacks up. For the sake of NCL I hope they did their homework. EPIC *needs* to be a major success for NCL to thrive. They have had too many miss-steps in the past and it has curtailed their success. Lets hope the transatlantic goes smoothly, and then the first Caribbean cruises. Hopefully NCL did what RCI did, and that is limit capacity initially so the ship can ramp up to full performance.

I would also add CELEBRITY SOLSTICE to OASIS and EPIC as the most intriguing ships within the past five years.

Ernie

One thing I can say about Epic is that she does have a nice bow shape. That villa area above the bridge is a bit overwhelming, but when you look at the big picture, she's not bad....better than the Pride of America I think. When I spoke to an executive at NCL about the Epic, she said the ship was designed from the inside out, so perhaps her interior areas are wonderful, considering that's where the focus was. I'm also drawn back to my interview with Bob Dickinson, when he stated that it's not important how the ship looks on the outside, what matters are the interiors and passenger flow, comfort, etc.
