So, who is going to be the godmother of the new Queen?

The queen mother christened her namesake Queen Elizabeth I in 1940. The Queen christened Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2.

Now, who will be the godmother of Queen Elizabeth 3?

In my opinion there can only be one godmother, but will she do it?

And who are you referring to ?

I would say it is time for a prince or princess to do that but a princess will be hard to find since the princes aren't married yet. So maybe godfather Prince William ???

I was thinking the woman who the ship is named after... Queen Elizabeth.

I think she is the only person that is appropriate, but will she do it?

Sorry but, from what I understand, the ship is not being named after the current monarch but rather the original QE of 1940....

I vote for Pam M.....she certainly has the class!

I can see why the Queen christened the QM2 because that was an 'event', QM2 being the greatest ocean liner built in decades and the largest passenger ship in the world (at that time). The new Cunarder Queen Elizabeth (being more or less another modified Vista) is less likely to be christened by the Queen herself and more likely to be christened by another Royal such as Princess Anne?

I think the Queen did it for Oriana as well. I am pretty sure that a Princess did Aurora.

Interesting trivia - The Titanic was never christened and did not have a godmother.

Personally I am the type that does not care about those types of things and it wouldnt bother me if a ship was not christened. For me I tend to remember the ships name, size including tonnage, length and width as well as a few other things about it. I have never remembered who christened them.

Re mv Oriana she was named in Southampton by the Queen.

I was there for the event.

ss Oriana was named by Princess Alexandra.

There was a full length painting of the Princess in the foyer outside the original 1st class lounge.

This painting was removed when ss Oriana was sold to the Japanese.

There was also a Buffs lodge on ss Oriana named after the Princess.

The Princess Royal named Aurora and the bottle failed to break. The ship had to abandon her maiden voyage after two days because of engine failure.....

Queen Beatrix dedicated the Eurodam 2 years ago and Eurodam was also a modified Vista. What is Queen Elizabeth more then our Queen Beatrix, nothing. I would think it would be nice to dedicate MS Queen Elizabeth by the Monarch who she's named after.

Greetings Ben.

Non of the White Star liners of that time where dedicated. It was not a White Star Tradition to dedicate ther ships. The ships where not dedicated but there launch where attended by hundreds of guests. In the case of Titanic there where 3 special stands build fore guest of the line and yard. After the launch, there where banquets fore guest and journalists. The whole affair was the same as a dedication without the lady who got smashed against the bow

Greetings Ben.
