Even though sailing on Solstice and Equinox back to back and the ships are nice etc. I would not recommend doing this as the ships were exactly the same. A been there done that cruise.
The only really good thing was totally different itineraries in the Carribean.
Just my take on this.

Isn't it 'a bit' too harsh not to recommend the Solstice class simply because there will be five of them?

What did you expect from your second cruise with a Solstice class ship? These ships are NOT meant to offer a vastly different experience - this is totally against the idea of building a series of ships. They are not building the 5th ship of a series to offer something new but to simply add more capacity.

It's not possible to build ONE Solstice class ship with a capacity of 14000 passengers and it's also not possible for ONE ship to do five different itineraries at the same time - that's why they build five ships - it's as simple as that.

It's of course a matter of taste or personal preference whether one wants to return to the same ship (or class of ships) again and again (many people like that) but there are still many different ships - or ship designs - out there. If you don't want to repeat a cruise aboard a ship (of the same design) simply don't book it. Lack of variety in ship design is not nearly as much of an issue as often stated in this forum. You can do many, many cruises without repeating the same ship design.

All he was saying is that he did not recommend back to backs on two Solstice class sisters as they were too similar. You could do back to back on two of the Millennium class, and you would definitely see the differences between the sisters. While I think the Solstice sisters are all beautiful ships, a little interior variety might have been nice. But they will be consistent if nothing else.

And all I am saying is that one has to expect that.

It can be discussed how much difference sister ships should be but IMHO it's a bit harsh to reply this way to a posting linking to the announcement of the name of the 5th Solstice class ship.

Reflection is not my favorite name either. Seems more suitable for Crystal, with the likes of Serenity and Serenade. They all sound like names for a senior center or nursing home IMO.

hi there,

hmm Celebrity Reflection

very often when i hear Celebrity's names i
frown a little but after a while i get used to

they are definitely ORIGINAL and for that alone
thank you very much, not another Sea, Dream, Magic
Freedom or something

i think Meridian, Horizon, Zenith, Century, Galaxy,
Mercury, Millennium, Infinity, Summit, Constellation,
and now Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette are
a bag full of "weird"names... but when you hear
it you will relate them at once to Celebrity

however i do not like those prefixes,,,

best regards
b. Joe

Not my favorite name but at least it's not a repeat of another ship like we so often see today.

I agree, and generally I really like the Celebrity names. It's just "Reflection" that is not sitting too well.

I agree it's also better than the repeats ... don't forget Pride, Spirit, and Legend too! Enough of those.
