wow, thanks for sharing. That image is incredible, doesn't even look like it's real. Have to go look up pricing and itineraries on the QM2 for their now, lol.

It is indeed a great photo....not sure how much photoshopping has been done. It's certainly rare for the weather to be so accommodating in this area.

Very photoshopped. The edge of the rockface to the right where it meets the sky almost looks like it's been cut with scissors.

I also wonder whether the scale is wrong. It looks wrong to me: my impression is that the ship is too small. This may be caused exacerbated by the fact that the ship image that's been put in looks like it's been taken at a different focal length: it's more "wide angle" than the landscape that it's been inserted into.

Trawling old threads, this is one real image of QM2 for comparison - although trying to do this reliably by eye is fraught with difficulty.

The bow wave looks real to me but the rest appears to have been enhanced/altered. I've seen videos of ships (Maxim Gorkiy as an example) on YouTube cruising in the fjord and they are moving along at a pretty decent speed.

Not QM2, but here's a shot I took las summer on board Ventura as Costa Deliziosa overtook us at about 7.30am on the way into Flaam and grabbed all the tickets on the mountain railway.
Second shot later in the day as we were about to leave shot from the bow of Ventura

Just got my Cunard past guest mailer today and that picture showed up on the cover. It actualy looks better there than it did in the link posted above. The port bow wave still looks really, really fake though.

P.S. They also eliminated that 'escort boat' which really looked even more fake in that other picture.

Just a small point, but would the ship actually be sailing at some speed with one of the tenders/lifeboats partially lowered.

I think the underlying current of the conversation may be that CUNARD, with it's endless resources, should have been able to do better than this fake looking image. But as I mentioned on the current mailer it looks much better being cropped down to size.

You can't really use this to look down on them, name one cruise company that hasn't airbrushed or photoshopped some images... the ship is too small anyway.

Nothing beats the good old natural photos that have not been digitally altered, airbrushed, or changed in any way.

Cruise images are spectacular anyway without being altered.

All these are real and have not been enhanced or changed. I recon real photos give more inspiration for cruising over fake ones any day.
