Do a search on www.naviearmatori.net and www.shipspotting.com. You should be able to find quite a few construction pics of her and also a few shots of the finished product.

hi there

yes you're right

the delivery (last wednesday) and marketing
of Marina has been very low key indeed

as she prepares for her first voyage
there are these set of pics available

photos made j Montoro Fort

http://www.fotosdebarcos.com/viewtopic.php?t=26929

she looks nice but not quiet convincing,
especially her stern is somewhat flat
i wonder what she is like inside

i like her funnel though

best regards,
b. Joe

Look at her deck maps this ship seems to be an enlarged R class ship with exactly the same set up. It also seems to have the same restricted open deck set up. (I didn't like the lack of open deck space on Nautica)

She should be quite nice inside though....wait and see

Proof positive that it's whats on the inside that counts as her exterior is quite unremarkable. Hard to believe she is approximately the same size as Rotterdam VI.

I did not believe it until I looked up the specifications myself! I'm currently comparing side shots of both ships, and the MARINA seems much smaller. Quite interesting...

MARINA:
Tonnage: 66,000
Length: 782 feet
Beam: 105 feet

ROTTERDAM VI:
Tonnage: 61,849
Length: 780 feet
Beam: 105.8 feet

Actually, the PR launch of the ship has been rather robust, garnering almost as much coverage as Norwegian Epic.

There are many photos at OceaniaCruisesBlog.com and a guest on the maiden voyage is posting photos regularly at OceaniaMarina.Shutterfly.com.

I may be biased, but I think she's a real stunner - quite possibly the most beautiful ship (internally) in decades.

Externally she could easily pass as a Princess or Royal Caribbean ship.

Since Oceania is outside my budget I'll have to stick with the more main stream 'upscale' brands. Would LOVE to go on the Rotterdam VI again! Ernie, you still contemplating that transatlantic?

I am a bit surprised that you put her in a category with Norwegian Epic . I am sure that Marina got the attention of the concerned people but she certainly did not get the same coverage as Norwegian Epic (!). Actually, this was very likely one of the most discrete launches of a new ship design compared to what other lines did during the past years.

I must agree with Ernst on this. I think though she is one of the beautiful ships internally and externally that I have seen for years.

For those tracking her maiden voyage, she has cancelled her call at Malaga this morning because of the atrocious weather in the region and is heading for the Straits of Gibraltar weaving her way through the large number of ships drifting to the east of Gibraltar waiting to come in when our Port reopens for business. As yet I don't know whether Marina will sail straight on to Casablanca or whether she might try and get into Cadiz this afternoon if that port is open.

Hope the weather down there clears up a bit for her. Will you see her pass by, or maybe visiblity isn't good enough?

She looks very nice in most of the photos I have seen. I have only received a single email mentioning Marina's launch from one UK agent with various offers in contrast to the hundreds I received over all other new cruise ship launch.

There is no mention on the UK blogs, nor from Greybeard or Steve Read. One of the largest UK agents has on their website "The Latest Images of Oceania Cruises' new Marina. The Marina is due to launch in winter 2011" That's not good - and the images are the previous renderings which they indicate are from Feb 2010.

If I was not someone who followed forums I would not have had an inkling MARINA was sailing.

hi Tim,

it appears that Marina caught your attention

the blogs you mention are the own Oceania blogs, so no wonder they take notice!

however thanks for the links and i did enjoy the photo's...

i hope Oceania is on the right way but some
indications sometimes do point out differently

- the new build orders were reduced from 3 to 2
- the delivery of Marina was put back for almost
4 months, Riviera originally was foreseen for 2011
will be delivered in 2012
- the recently announced charter from Insignia to
Hapag Lloyd...

ofcourse it might have to do with the world wide crisis, however i thought her clientele might suffer
a bit less...

best regards
b. Joe

Yes, this is one I don't want to miss. I'm not as excited as you are about the ship, but the experience should be amazing. HAL is offering a great past guest promotion where you book an inside and are upgraded to an outside category H for the same price. First up though is ALLURE OF THE SEAS which I just booked yesterday for 2/20/11 so just around the corner.

Like you I find Oceania out of my general budget that I like to spend on cruises. Once in a while when I do have the means for an upscale cruise, I find that Seabourn and Silversea are priced comparably to Oceania so you can imagine which one I'm going to go for.

I do hope to experience Oceania someday, and it will likely be MARINA or her sister as I have little interest in the original R-class ships.

There are very few photos of Marina on shipspotting and Oceania's blog on Marina barely showed photos of the ship's exterior. They didn't seem to show photos in Barcelona as the ship prepares for her maiden voyage.

Goodness Ernie, talk about last minute! That sounds like FUN and even though the ALLURE and OASIS are outside my budget I am saving up again for another December cruise and will wait last minute myself watching Resident Specials and any $399 deals that pop up again. I hope to save up enough to fly-cruise from Florida and am scoping out a time-period to block for three weeks vacation in December. The Carnival Pride has a GREAT deal from Baltimore but as hard as I try I just cant see myself back on a 'Funship'. The other option is a 12-night on the Enchantment of the Seas. I really dont like the looks of NCL ships from NY and the only other options are out of the Sunshine State.

Looking at the interior pics it does look very plush and homey, certainly not like the factory belt Carnival, HAL etc. It even seems to have more authenticity than QE Cunard Disney ;-)

This ship is targeted and marketed to a smaller north American public, so I can imagine that we don't hear so much about it as the more "mainstream" NCL Epic. I certainly have received a lot of brochures at home about this ship.

As far as fares, I got a very decent one for the Black Sea cruise in September 2009. However I got the impression at that time Oceania was dumping unsold accommodation on the European market. It was a bit odd as we were in a very small minority. This was certainly atmosphere wise, one of the most American orientated cruise line I've ever been on.

Needless to say very good food and service. That was certainly worth the extra money

Nice looking ship. The upper decks forward reminds me of Oriana while the stern is better than some boxy sterns but nothing great.

Where are the images of the interiors??

Here's a view of MARINA at Miami this morning, 5 February 2011, her christening day. This is her seasonal home port, Pier J, Dodge Island:

My wife and I completed the "maiden" on February 4th........this is one FINE SHIP!

Marina was delived 6 days late in Genoa the evening of Jan.19th, and, ready to sail on the 22nd in Barcelona. The 3 day shakedown was cancelled, hence, no practice for the galley, waitstaff, etc., and, hardly a glitch in service.

She also got a real workout weatherwise, cancelled in Malaga, as noted elsewhere in this thread, and, Force 10-11 for much of the day from Casablanca to Tenerife, and, handled extremely well.

Marina also boasts four "no pay" alternative restaurants. We sampled all four, as well as the two super special premium restaurants where you do pay supplements.

Marina is a MUST!!

For those who want a look on board, see here.

"The most beautiful, elegant and sophisticated ship to debut in the past 50 years" seems a bit hyperbolic, and my taste generally runs towards more modern styles (which I realize does not "fit" Oceania), but she does look very, very nice. I would be happy to sail in her any day, of course.
