I'm guessing the ship will look better than she ever has, except perhaps when brand new and I'm not even sure about that.

Oh, I am sure about that. However, it seems that it will be an improvement compared to her present condition.
Will Saga Pearl ll join the Spirit of Adventure when the new ship enters service.
At present the advance brochures only go as far as when Saga Pearl is due to enter service.
It looks like the old Westerdam?
Just wondering.

I think it is the ex-Bleu de France?

She was supposed to have arrived in Southampton tomorrow [Fri 23 March], but has been delayed and now won't be here until Monday [still east of Gibraltar when I checked earlier today], but staying a full week so I am sure there will be quite a photos about the net of her soon.

Having recently bought the ship, and had her refitted, she will have to take on a full load of supplies of every description which is not a five minute job !
There may also be some trade visits plus not too sure where she is being named and if there will be any naming celebrations.
Re the fares charged they do include insurance and many extras you pay for with other companies..

Saga has owned the ship since December and they have had the crew and contractors living aboard all through the shipyard refit. So while she has not been at sea and running her full passenger amenities she has been stored and very much alive for months.
The layover before the first trip could be in part a "safety" built into the original schedule plus she will need a final cleaning, checking and prep for the MV. She will also get a once over by the local authorities to ensure she is up to standard before she starts to embark passengers. But no doubt the majority of the time on dock is going to be spent showing her off to the trade, media, past passengers, etc.
I look forward to seeing more about the ship because Saga got themselves a fine ship based on her original designs. I hope they only improved on an already nice ship.
From the blog they were running on the work being carried out I would not say she has been alive for months although some people were living on board.
Feeding workers and staff on board at a shipyard while parts of a ship are being rebuilt does not compare with feeding passengers at sea !
There are still stores like fresh milk, eggs, plus fresh fruit and vegetables to be taken on board in Southampton I have lived on board a cruise ship while work was being done prior to a maiden cruise after the ship had been bought from another company !
Have you ?

Ships load those stores on every turn around and on long cruises in various ports of call. It does not take a week to get milk, eggs, fresh fruit, etc. aboard even for an empty larder. The stuffs would be spoiled before they ever sailed if it took a week to load them all.
Saga clearly gave themselves time prepare the ship but I am sure they are using the time to show her off before the maiden voyage.
You are correct is saying that storing on turn rounds between cruises can be completed in ten hours.
However besides some refurbishing work to be finished as mentioned by Dack, restoring a cruise ship is not the same as stocking up on stores between cruises !
It is obvious to me you have no idea of what is involved in re-stocking an empty ship with everything that will be required right down to the last sheet of note and toilet paper !
I also read the reports but have done the job..
When I started posting here years ago it wasn't like it is now. It was informative, interesting, and actually fun. Now most of the posts end up in battles between who is right or wrong and who knows more than who.
There are posts that I won't even read because certain names pretty much insure a nasty thread full of insults and accusations.
It's sickening and disgusting the way people talk to each other here. In just this thread a member who has been here a long time posted a comment/opinion and was (in so many words) called stupid and made to feel inferior because another person (AS IS HIS USUAL STYLE) had to belittle him so that "MR. Style" could feed his ego.
And since I have been here for so long and have been putting up with all of this "HONESTY" that is written here, let me be honest also....
Niel, Nothing you have to say here interests many people because of your arrogant attitude. You only post to see your words written. Perhaps having them on the web makes it easier to believe them yourself. So what if you worked for P and O! That does not make you an expert nor does it make you smarter. But, most importantly it does not give you the right to come here and chase people away or, at the least, keep them from posting.
I have a wealth of information that I could share here, but I chose not to because I don't come here to be ridiculed and have my intelligence insulted and rated by some inconsiderate posters.God forbid I should post a picture and mispell or name the ship. I would be keel-hauled! Or what if I got a date wrong? What would I do? Where would I go?
You are not the only one who does this, Niel. The others know who they are.
It's sad that this forum has to put up with the inconsiderate behavior of some that feel it is there place to personally attack the other people here.
Not everyone is an expert on ships. Not a lot of people have worked on ships like you. Some people here have never been on a cruise and some have never even seen a ship. But, we all have every right to be here. Every right to ask a question. Every right to be wrong. But what solice is that when you know someone is still going to run you into the ground with insults and condesending remarks? NOT ME!
It's bullying. It's wrong. It's enough.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE IF YOU FEEL YOU NEED OR HAVE A RIGHT TO TREAT PEOPLE WITHOUT RESPECT AND KINDNESS. THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS IS SITE IS FOR. GO START YOUR OWN WEB PAGE. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR YOU HERE.
And for the record, Niel. I never had a ill thought regarding P & O until I started reading your posts. You wear their name like tattooed badge but you are the poorest represenitive they could have. I now associate the line with pompousa asses.
Please don't feel it nessecary to comment. I am making a statement. Not starting a thread. It's too dangerous and detrimental to my self esteem to do something like that. I would be eaten alive.

Wait till you try LinersList. CT is very tame by comparison.
I too have had run-in's with a couple of CT members who thought they walked on water. I have made this known to Joe and he understands. There was a while I just walked away from CT and quit contributing, but then figured why should I let a few know-it-all's ruin a good thing for me.
I truly believe that the internet has deteriorated what little civility we had left between each other. There is a polite way to express differences of opinion without coming off (as you so delightfully put it) as "pompous asses".
Yet it is these same superior individuals who run their own web sites and brag about the thousands of new members they have who feel the need to come on to Cruise Talk and belittle everyone else. Sad. And pathetic.
All contributions are welcome, and we have lost some valuable and highly respected members over the years due to this bitterness and arguing that ensues.
I know for a fact that most of the members here are more knowledgeable, more experienced, and more 'cruised' than I am. And I respect that. What I do not respect is someone coming off as a "pompous ass" and making me feel ignorant and little. And certain members here at CT have a real knack for doing just that. And without even trying real hard at it either.
With that said I do hope that we can be more polite, more civil, and more respectful towards each other in the tone of our conversations. There is a way to express an opinion, be firm yet polite, and without making the other person feel like an idiot.
