Most striking thing to me is how little open sun & pool deck space the Solstice class has. The Spirit and Millie class ships look like they have 2X the amount, despite being a smaller size.

Sea days on the Solstice class must bring a fierce battle for the few loungers, huh?

It does look tight doesn't it? In actuality my experience was that it wasn't too bad. Certainly no worse than other large ships I've sailed. I personally didn't like those awnings by the pool as they blocked the sun. Of course those that prefer shade loved them.

The CELEBRITY SOLSTICE was near perfect for me, at least as far as a modern large cruise ship goes. Yes she could probably benefit from a little more sun bathing space, but it certainly wasn't a deal breaker. There is actually a lot of deck space so long as you don't mind not being directly in the sun.

Agree with Ernie, my favorite class of large new ships. Been twice within the last 12 months and that says enough. Though I shudder to think how the extra deck on the Reflection will impact the already tight pool area.

I was thinking about that too, but hopefully the extra width will enable extra rows of deck chairs which I think is the plan.

I'm booked on REFLECTION when she comes out so I'll let you know.

I was shocked at how small the two 90k ships look compared to Oasis in the second picture. And I can't imagine this ship next to my favorites like the Celebrity Mercury or Sun Princess. Mind boggling!

Whats amazing to me about this shot is that it was only about 15 years ago that the first Queen Elizabeth was still the largest passenger ship ever built, yet here we have 4 ships (the two Celebrity ships, the Spirit class ship and the HAL Vista), all bigger then the QE, and they are all dwarfed by the Allure of the Seas. You can really see her size here.

They used to say "if the music is too loud, you're too old".... now I think it's "if the ship is too big, you're too old." I'm sure I will love Solstice class when I finally go, but I find Millennium and Infinity ideal in all ways, and Oasis just too overwhelming.
