Hi CT

One (now 3) weeks has gone since I was back from a wonderful 7 night Mediterranean cruise on Navigator of the Seas.

This was my first Royal Caribbean cruise, and also first cruise on a ship at this size.

Earlier I have cruised with Costa Mediterranea and Costa Deliziosa in 2008 and 2010.

From Civitavecchia to Messina, Sicilia - Athens - Kusadasi - Souda/Chania, Crete and back to Civitavecchia.

Everything was great, and almost nothing could have been much better except maybe that pool towels has to be registered to the user who then can occupie sunbeds without using them.

At this point RCCL could learn something from Costa, where pool towells are placed all around in closets free to use.
The sun-deck staff is keeping an eye on un-used sunbeds and remove the towells after some time, and the sunbed is free.

Otherwise Costa could learn something about embarkation from RCCL.

From arrival to the cruise-terminal in Civitavecchia I was on the ship in 15 minutes, wow. My latest Costa-cruise from Savona to Copenhagen I had to wait 1 and a half hour.

All in all both of them could be my next cruise-lines.

About the ship-size I must say that I prefer the Spirit / Vista which in my opinion have a bit more space pr. pax.

Best regards
René.

Well, I must say that I hope at least a few have seen the photos.
After nearly a month without a single comment, I am not sure this webphorum is the first place to link to future cruisephotos from me.

I have really enjoyed every photo I have seen on this phorum from many different ships from many different CT´s.

I myself is not a big writer, but a comment to photos is at least what I expect from a phorum like this, and what I use to send myself.

Sorry, but best regards anyway.
René

I am sure many people appreciated your photos like I do. It would indeed be nice to get more feedback and I hope that the occasional lack thereof is not the reason why we saw less contributions like that 'recently'. A "Like" button - as suggested some time ago - might help but I understand that it is difficult to implement.

It seems we have CTers post a cruise review on the listed topics vs in the in the archives .EG. cruise reviews. See reviews at left on these pages.
It's OK to give a review here but one should post in the archives for those wishing to check on certain lines and ships at a later date.

I think a lot of people here "lurk" silently. I checked out your photos and enjoyed seeing the Balmoral, the Costa Romantica (which I haven't seen in years) and the Silver Spirit. I'll be cruising the Balmoral September 27th out of Southampton, and enjoyed the Silver Spirit a few months ago. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the review and pics! Frosty I have submitted 3 reviews so far over the last year and none have been placed in the review section. Maybe there is a problem with it?

Rene,

THANK YOU for taking the time to share your thoughts and pictures! Every contribution to Cruise Talk is always most greatly appreciated, although some may not express their gratitude in writing. Somehow your thread slipped by me, so I do appreciate you bumping it back up to the top.

I know how you must feet though. I long ago gave up on my Panama Canal webcam postings for the same reason. I would sit diligently at my computer for hours to post a thread that seemed to get little or no attention. I guess they just got boring to everyone.

Needless to say, please know that  your contributions are indeed greatly appreciated and please do keep coming back to let us know about your future plans and opinions of the daily topics at hand.

Best wishes,

David

Thank You very much for your support, Ernst, Frosty 4, Barry, nycruiser and David.

@Barry, I have enjoyed your videos from Gota-Kanal and Norway very much, and also the new one from Pride of Hawaii.

Best regards
René.

Hello Rem
thank for your pics.

They are much better than mine of the NotS, 2 years ago. In my opinion the ship was too big, always something on, always on the flow - we couldn't get some restful place. Two years before we went on the JEwel of teh Seas, and we both felt this ship (JotS) much more to our liking.

As for CT, I do think there is something going on for the worse : some time ago, there was much more debate (heated or not), and many interesting items. It is much more american-cruise minded, and less international and historical.

René:

I for one am a bit red-faced over not taking a look at your photos until just now...because, quite honestly, most of them are absolutely stunning. The shots of NOTS next to Silver Spirit really convey just how big the RCI ship is. I can only image the SS next to Oasis.

As far as the lack of response to your original post, I think it might come down to the fact that, other than the towel issue, you pretty much said the cruise was perfect. Some folks tend to thrive on controversy, dilemma and debate; your trip, thankfully, went very well.

Nevertheless, your efforts and thoughtfulness in sharing should have been acknowledged. For my part, or lack thereof, I humbly apologize.

-Russ

Johan, thanks for your comment. I agree that things have changed and mostly because there are so many other places for people to share their thoughts on the Internet.

We still have a large number of people who visit every day but many are simply reading old posts and not posting themselves.

Let me ask everyone reading this post for a favor. If you enjoy reading CT, please take some time out of your day and stop by and make a post. Comment on an existing post or post whatever is on your mind regarding cruising.

If everyone does this, it will really help get us closer to what we had in the past - thoughtful discussions about the issues of the time or interesting reminiscing of cruises/crossings of the past.

Thanks again to everyone that posts on CT. You are what makes the forum a fun place to visit.

Joe, it seems there are more posts during the Winter months. More cruising in the US--- down to the Carribean,South America, OZand NZ.
I see a few posts here that go back to May.eg. Technically speaking.
How about some #stats on monthly posts. Would be interesting.

I'm another CT regular(ish) reader who didn't comment on your photos when you first posted the link. I think it was probably because I don't think I'm likely to cruise with RCI.

I have looked at them now, however, and I enjoyed them. Especially the interior images, showing the most spectacular features - the Royal Promenade, the atrium, and the main dining room. Having cruised on Celebrity Solstice and Ventura (both around 120,000 tons) your pictures gave a clear indication just how much bigger than those ships RCI's Freedom class actually is. Thank you for posting.
