She's a beauty alright & in scale with Revell's QM2 model kit...next what I'd really like to see is Grand Princess in the same scale & level of accuracy & detail..it'd be a STUNNER!..Once I've completed my 1/350th scale Titanic along with the QM2 then I'll kick on with the AIDA..

A very nice model indeed...I'm still hoping they'll remake a new QUEEN MARY model, the orginal version and I would love to see an ANDREA DORIA model as well.

What an absolutely stunning model kit! I would love to build this, shame though about the giant lips and eyeball... The detail is amazing. I too would love to see a Grand-class and a Solstice-class model of the same scale. I'm sure there's enough Celebrity and Princess fans out there that would embark on a model building venture such as it would be.

Gorgeous model of a not so attractive ship. As posted, I would love to see a 1/400 Andrea Doria, Nieuw Amsterdam, Rotterdam V etc. or other beautiful/historic liners.

Wow, its my dream to see a release of a 1/400 Solstice class... and its pretty logical, cause Revell loves to release kits which somhow related to Germany and the Solstice class all built in Germany so it might be a triger...

Anyway, the Aida model is beautifull because the ship itself (though not so very attractive with its livery) is a very interesting ship with lots of glass walls, terraces and aft tired stern which is very handsome.

Did you notice at the model that is going to represent part of the ship's interior? just beyond the glass walls of the centrum....

Revell Germany have to be congratulated again on bringing two new passenger/cruise liner kits to market at a time where all other kit makers continue turning out ships of war.Anyone who's built the Revell QM2 knows that the quality & detail of this model is superb & AIDA looks like it will be equal to this. So,having said that my personal wish list of future model kits in this scale would be.

Grand Princess (a one time groundbreaker)
Oasis of the Seas (the 1st 'resort' liner)
Celebrity Solstice (another progressive design)
Voyager of the Seas (RCI's progression to the resort liner)

Classics...

Normandie...(peerless elegance)
Queen Mary..(Cunards answer)
Queen Elizabeth..(Cunards progression)
France..(CGT's hope & homage)
United States...(US engineering tour de force)

All these ships in one way or another represent innovation, progression & uniqueness in design Grand Princess..1st in class.
Voyager...1st in class
Solstice..1st in class
Oasis..1st in class

Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth represent progression & response
France..a homage to Normandie & a one off
United States..and engineering marvel & one off
& Normandie...a one off..nothing on Earth like her..

So..imagine just a few of these & other beloved liners past & present being rendered by Revell in 1/400th scale..who knows?..I certainly didn't expect AIDA to become a commercial model kit, after all civil marine subjects have never had the popularity of ships of war so perhaps the tide's a changing.

Sadly there is a much smaller niche for models of passenger ships than military vessels. I recall reading that it costs 1/4 million dollars or more to develop a new detailed model but who knows that that is accurate.

Are they going to give decals for all the AIDA art work on the hull or do they expect people to paint it freehand? Not even AIDA does that.

My guess is the hull art will be rendered as decals
more expericenced modellers would opt to paint..

Nice picture Rich, did you watch her pull in? I watched on AIS and could see part of her on the Intercontinental Miami webcam and she seemed to sit quite some time in the turning basin. I also got to see her slide in front of the Carnival Valor via her bridge cam.

thanks for the pic Rich.

I thinks she could be a very handsome ship unless the messy livery which are not at all to my taste...

No, I didn't watch her come in or leave, just stopped along the MacArthur and photographed her around Noon.
