Cross section of that portion of the Celebrity Reflection completed to date...

The stern block which houses the diesel/electric engines of the Celebrity Reflection was floated into the builders shed shortly after Disney Fantasy exited. Hopefully on the next webcam update we'll see additional modules in place as construction continues.

Here is a link to an article on the stern block with pictures...

HERE

The last paragraph of the article already lists her float out date...

"The construction of the last Solstice-class cruise ship for Celebrity Cruises goes until August. On August 12, undocking the Celebrity Reflection is planned . 14 days later is the luxury liner converted via the Ems to Eemshaven , there will be the first test and setting journeys made. The maiden voyage of Celebrity Reflection whose price is fixed in the rest down has started on Oct 12, 2012 from Amsterdam."

One thing has me perplexed about that first new image I posted just above.

That odd looking wedge part coming off of the back of the current construction sitting on the keel blocks that looks like a tail, what is that I am looking at?

Hi David,
Do you think it's a steel support instead of the wood
cribing? Could be to support the weight of the engineering spaces with all the diesels and heavy equipment of those spaces. I've never seen
this before either and I've watch these guys build
lots of ships.
Good question, if we don't get a good answer maybe we can send a question to Meyer Werft.

Hi David,

It looks to me like it might just be a temporary ramp to that area of the ship. I'm probably way off, but that is what came to mind when I saw it.

And thanks for the pics!

I'm not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination, and although I've spent time in shipyards none was during construction of this scale.

It looks like you both may be right?

Could it be the stem? With the pods and no rudder, it could be part of the stem to add strength in that part of the hull where all the machinery is?

It's amazing how ships go together. Being that this is the last of the series I wonder how many refinements were made from the previous ships?
We have sailed on Solstice and Equinox and found them to be clones with not much if any differences.
Are there any noticable changes on the last 3 ships?

The first 3 are pretty much identical. Their may be some small differences but nothing major. On the last two they started changing things though. The Silhouette is a few feet longer and as a result has some extra cabins. They also added an extra category or two. On top of that small change they modified a bunch of the interior public spaces and enhanced some others. Mainly some new restaurants and some repurposing and enhancing of the Lawn area. The Reflection then has all of these changes and an additional deck of cabins. To help balance the extra deck and increased capacity the ship is about a meter wider than the four previous ships as well.

This information also was from an earlier press release:

In addition to the 34 new AquaClass Suites, Celebrity Reflection also will present an additional eight luxurious new Sky Suites, 19 additional plush Concierge Class staterooms, and 11 additional inside staterooms, bringing the stateroom/suite total to 1,515.

"We gave a great deal of thought to how to ideally accommodate everything we're adding," said Hanrahan. "We're widening the ship slightly, enabling us to introduce each of these exceptional new venues without compromising an inch of Celebrity's premium space ratio and traffic flow."

Celebrity Reflection will offer:

- 245 more loungers on its expanded pool deck to suit the increased overall guest capacity
- 45 additional seats in the Celebrity Theater
- 118 in Oceanview Café
- 24 additional seats each in Blu and in Tuscan Grille
- 4 additional seats in Qsine
- 40 additional seats in the main dining room, where Celebrity offers Celebrity Select DiningSM, the industry's first flexible dining option allowing guests to choose when they wish to dine on a flexible, day-by-day basis.

New pictures dated March 16, 2012. If you notice in the first one her bow is not yet attached but is laying on the dry dock floor behind her where you can see the bulbous bow.

Cool pictures. I think she looks better than her sisters with the added cabins and the raisen pool deck!

Hi David,
Looks like she has been floated back ready for the bow pieces. Guess the NCL Breakaway will have the first block laid soon.

Nice catch! Here are two images: an older web cam image on the left (April 4th) and new one on right (April 12th) of the Celebrity Reflection after being floated back in her dry dock inside the builders hall. This will allow the installation of the bow module to be completed as you mentioned. All of the modules lying to the left of her belong to Norwegian Breakaway. It should be a lot of fun watching her get built.

Interesting picture I found on the NCL website from their new build Norwegian Breakaway. It shows the Celebrity Reflection after she was floated back in the dry dock and before they attached the bow:

I was booked on her but switched to the Equinox, from plans onboard the eclipse, many of the "fun" elements were eliminated to accomodate more sun chairs (ie: dancing fountains, etc). It will be interesting to see how this ship handles the extra cabins. Honestly I love these ships but the pool deck on the less populated ships is crowded enough

The pool area will not affect me as I don't do public pools. A large balcony is my number one priority as that is where I spend a lot of my time.
