Check out the video:

Royal Princess video

Although I'm not a huge fan of Princess' interiors, I admit: I love the way this ship looks; let's hope she ends up looking like this.

Having returned to Princess in December to try the Grand Princess, I have to admit I was never so bored by a ship or cruise. Decor, service, cruise all blah...not bad, but ot wow either. I see in the new Royal Princess is more of the same (amazing how even this far from the 80's wicker furniture finds its way onto a new build...those chairs in alfredos are the same creaky chairs Princess has used for a decade).

Thanks for the link, was interesting to see

Design is clearly evolutionary and they say that countless times on the video. (I was almost wishing for something revolutionary!!) This makes sense. Existing customers know what to expect from the mainline brands. Were Princess suddenly to adopt the garish Carnival style, playful Disney stlye or formal HAL style, it would potentially alienate the repeat base who are always your most valuable customers.

Both Princess and RCI seem to deliberately adopt the middle ground and it doesn't appear to do either any harm.

hmm not terribly exciting, just not my cup of tea. I can remember having a look at Ocean Princess way back in 2000, it reminded me of a shopping mall, just like this one.

I can remember remember Rai Caluori as Cruise Director on first Royal Princess in way back in 1988. He seem to have made some career with Princess

Clever...it looks very difficult to pass through the atrium and NOT spend any money!

That was my first thought as well

It looks like very commercial onboard revenue trap...

I think RCI does a much better job with the design of thier ships, decor, wow factor etc. Princess seems to relish at being the Marriot of the seas and having each ship mirror the other awash in beige. Sad, I think ships should have some personality, I found on all my Princess cruises I never remember one thing abount the ship a year later....I still remember all the details of the Solstice and Eclipse (as an example)

This is certainly a rather unspectacular design. However, while I personally prefer variety it's certainly not necessary that every single ship built today is different or special (which in a way is per definition not possible) especially since there are in fact many rather individual vessels around.

Yes, the interior is pretty much typical Princess (except on a slightly larger scale). Bottom line, however, is that the bulk of diehard Princess fans will like it...it fits perfectly into their comfort zone.

I am, however, fond of the exterior....

I have never found Princess "my cup of tea." As with many new ships, there are way too many shades of brown. I find this so on both QE and QV among others. I am seeing it also in many hotels as well.

Well, speaking as the novice in the bunch here at CT, I like it. I think it's quite pretty and not too over the top. I wouldn't hesitate booking her.

One thing Princess seems to have done of late is turn their atriums into a side show for everything from jugglers to zumba classes. As mentioned in one of the articles it is in line with the street-café atmosphere. I assume they'll be moving a lot of live entertainment to this now much larger venue? I wonder if this will get annoying after a while. It's a shame you just can't have a nice place to sit and enjoy the 'quite'.

Note to Princess, in your upcoming videos might want to find less stiff and more youthful spokespeople.
