This morning it was reported on the Swedish shipping forum Landgangen that Royal Caribbean's ALLURE OF THE SEAS experienced an engine explosion/failure last night. According to a Swede who is currently on board, first a loud bang was heard, followed a few minutes later by a tremendous shaking sensation throughout the ship.

According to the Swedish passenger, the Captain quickly appeared on the public address system and informed there had been an incident in the engine room. All watertight doors were closed and fire zone number 6 was evacuated (from the bottom of the ship all the way up to the Viking Crown Lounge).

ALLURE OF THE SEAS was left without power for a while but is now underway again, according to the Landgangen forum poster/passenger.

Would be interesting to hear if any more news or information about this incident appears online.

Apparently the fire was quickly extinguished, and the ship is proceeding on schedule for her return here (Port Everglades) tomorrow morning.
