Pacific Sun (Jubilee) completed her final cruise for P&O Australia yesterday when she returned to Brisbane after a 7 day cruise to Noumea and Vila. She leaves for Singapore on Wednesday and is to be sold to a Chinese operator and become a casino ship.

P&O Australia are not acquiring a new ship to replace her but Carnival are introducing Carnival Spirit to Australia later this year and she becomes the effective replacement in Carnival Corporation's Australian fleet.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the remaining P&O fleet now given they are currently in a nothing livery. It is possible that they will be rebranded as Carnival also or maybe Princess. We'll wait and see.

Although the hulls on the Australian P & O cruise ships look much the same as the UK operated ships I think they should give the ships a yellow funnel the same as the UK ships.

Pacific Sun has been showing as named ' Henna ' at Sambawang shipyard, Singapore, where she is at present.

However the name ' Amber Sun ' is also coming up for her so this could be her new name.

Where did the name Amber Sun come up from? I have seen it mentioned and on marine traffic/shipspotting as an ex name, but I feel that perhaps there be might some confusion here with the bulk carrier Amber Sun ex Jubilee.

Hi Pam

It comes up yesterday on Vessel tracker when you put the name into search.

There is also a Korean bulk carrier with the same name.

Here is a bit of an update on the former Pacific Sun from Seatrade insider. She has been renamed Henna as reported earlier.

China’s HNA Tourism Group, which acquired Pacific Sun from P&O Cruises Australia in July, is renaming the ship Henna and launching a cruise programme to serve the home market at the start of 2013.

Operated by HNA Tourism Cruises Yacht Management Co., Ltd, the first mainland company in China to own a cruise ship, Henna will sail out of Chinese ports in its inaugural season.

The ship has 740 cabins and is capable of accommodating around 2,000 tourists. It is currently in Singapore undergoing refurbishment although HNA has not disclosed what work is being undertaken.

Henna will sail both short cruises and longer routes using Sanya and Tianjin as its home ports to destinations in Vietnam and South Korea.

Located in Beijing, HNA Tourism Group is part of HNA Group, operating travel agencies, airlines, hotels, car rental, convention bureau and travel magazines. It has total assets of more than 10bn RMB.

One of its five airlines is Grand China Express, among the largest regional airlines in China operating over 30 aircraft on 80 domestic routes.

The slogan of HNA Tourism Group is 'My Travel, My Life.'
