Hello everybody!

Since i was 7 years oid I dreamed about ships. After 25 cruises worldwide, and some 15 models collected and built i decided to have a model of my dream ship.
i believe evertone hear had toughts with himself about the "perfect ship"...that one with the wildest ideas and a great design.
So, I have decided to contact Sherback models whom which I purchased few models. I asked him if he can produce an original prototype with my ideas. Well I was not so surpised when he refused saying he is not dealing with prototype unless I oreder some 15-20 pieces lol...

So i taught again. A fully scratched model will do only average result. I tried it before and the result was pretty nice but not enough professional and sleek.
I wanted a museum-like model.

So I made this crazy solution... I decided to built a ship out of two different sets of revell. One is QM2, the other is AIDA LUNA/BELLA/ETC.
Both kits are 1:400. QM2 has great hull and balcony blocks. Aida has great outer decks, resort pools and nicely built solarium...
I certainly didn't want to built an ocean liner... I wanted to built a great cruise ship.

At first i taught to use the AIDA hull. It short in height like most modern vessels. But it was too small. I wanted to have a 160K GRT vessel and to use a hull of a 69k vessel was a mistake. Also the General Arrangement of the AIDA leads to that of most lounges located above the accommodation, something i dislike.
So I took the QM2 Hull. I painted it Royal Blue and painted it one deck below the original line of the QM2 i order to create difference and, to make an optical illusion of a much shorter in height - hull.

Super structure got a curve, with dramatice glass walls for ocean elevators in the middle. Aft stern got an hybrid solution: rounded. yet full of accommodation and observation lounge. (aft superstructure is out taken from AIDA).
Forecastle is all of QM2 but without the black stripes.
Additional 2 decks were added forward to accomodate pool spa and solarium. Funnel was built hybrid as well: a combination of AIDA and QM2. A nice resort pool with an island and a glass dome was adapted from Aida. Instead of the Kings court outer alcoves on promenade deck, I left it open for an Breakaway-like promenade full of restaurent and shops.

I did use many scratch built sheets of plastic (evergreen). the ship is not yet finnish. Here some photos for you to enjoy and make comments and even suggest ideas.

Hey Dambrossi.

Thanks for the compliment...
It took me two months to get this stage which is not final.
Usually it should take longer but with this project I had such a huge passion so I worked every day for
Few hours...

I envy you, elad. It takes a great deal of talent and imagination to build something like this - by hand. It's one of the most beautiful ship models I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing.

A person who works hard on a their favorite project; just to see how it turns out and shares it with everyone deserves to be complimentes and appreciation..not everyone can do what you are doing. It's a worth piece of work to enjoy.
