I posted this on another thread, but think it deserves it's own. What do you think they're gonna do with her? It was later said that she'll be back in February 2016.

"refocusing on Europe after concentrating passenger sourcing efforts on Latin and South America after the Spanish market went soft.

The company is also shedding a ship, with the Empress reportedly going back to Royal Caribbean.

Pullmantur did not respond to several inquiries for comment, but issued a press release in Spain, outlining that the Monarch will head for Europe in 2016, helping the company to concentrate on the Spanish and French markets.

The Monarch had previously been deployed on a year-round itinerary in the Southern Caribbean sourcing passengers from Latin America.

The 1990-built Empress will head back to the Royal Caribbean brand early next year, said Pullmantur."

As far as I've heared RCI will employ her for Cuba-cruises.
Another option in my opinion would still be Azamara but only with a lot of changes to the ship such as making one cabin out of two, adding balconies and upgrade her interiors.
With Oceania getting a fourth R-class vessel in spring 2016, Azamara would do good to add further ships to their fleet.

That's what I've heard too. I'm interested to see how they update her wherever she goes! I feel she has a lot of potential.

They have announced her as Empress of the Seas again so I think Azamara is a long shot. Azamara is still finding its way and they previously shot down investing in new builds for the brand. They are however putting more money into a further upgrade of the two former R ships.

As for Cuna it is the rumor around the industry but RCCL and RCI do not yet have permits for Cuba. So unless they have been quietly working on the paper work that is a hurdle to a fast start for Cuba.

Either way the word is she will start sailing in the spring for RCI after a refit.

I said I thought Cuba was a long shot here and it seems I am right.

They are starting her up in April and she will be doing four- and five-night cruises from Miami to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman, Key West and some to the Bahamas and Coco Cay.

Maybe Cuba will come later once they get their ducks lined up with all the permits, etc.

I hope they do a decent refurb on her. But I'm not sure if they plan on keeping her for the long run. Still, it's exciting she's returning to the fleet! I think these itineraries are perfect; staying longer than usual in places, short cruises..
