Rich,
I am trying to find the ad to block it but don't see anything related to Microsoft. Can you tell me what product is being advertised in the pop-up?

It's a pop-up trying to install Microsoft Office 2000--then it gives you a message saying that the disk is needed for installation. After hitting the cancel button several times, it goes away.
Pam
I suspect that the advertiser is using some type of media (...new type of graphic or animated something) that your browser doesn't recognize. It is therefore attempting to install the software needed to display the unrecognized media.
I'd like to know which product is causing this so I can block them but I need a name or URL of the product. In the meantime I will keep reviewing the pop-up ads but if I have the software already installed I won't see the message.

Good choice. I think everyone here who uses Windows should give Firefox or Opera a try, or alternatively change to a Mac.
Got the same problems as other posters, for the past 2-3 weeks. The oufits that keep poppingup are; '' media fast click '' and '' z1 adserver''.Quite annoying.
Doc't have that problem with anybody else's site....
