What cruise and ship would make you want to spend a week in the office instead.

Me: Carnival Holiday-Celebration out of Mobile AL or Galvaston TX

Other thoughts?

I agree with Pam--being on ANY ship at sea, even a rusty old freighter, is better than being at work in the office!

I'd even go on EasyCruise rather than be in the office.

Heck, I'd even go on the Isle of Wight Ferry!

Me too! I'd even endure 'Thomson Destiny' and would happily bring my own bed pan.

I work in a small gray cubicle with outdated computer equipment among 300 other people taking back-to-back customer service calls for 8 hours a day from people who are already p****d off before I even answer the call, regarding their cable TV thats not working, the internet they can't connect to, and telephone services that are worse than a tin-can-and-a-string, and try to troubleshoot their problems over the phone to make it work.

Are you kidding me? I'll give you one guess what my answer would be!

I guess to anyone who really loves ships and the sea, cruising is like pizza or sex: even when it's bad, it's good!

I have to disagree with this. Sex can be sometimes very unpleasant (trust me...). And I know some pizzas the Devil's cook wouldn't even give to the Hell "guests".

Thank you all for such great answers.

All of my unpleasant cruises [Regal Empress and Sea Breeze, SB was with my ex a month b4 splitting, her sinking a metaphor. RE was the NYC outer burough gold chain set] were due to nasty passengers, more so than the physical ship or service.

Several years ago we did a 3-day cruise on Carnivals well worn ms Holiday to the Mexican port of Ensenada and back. The ship was awful (tacky and in need of a major refit) and the food even worse. The saving grace was being able to visit the fun bars and an excellent restaurant in Ensenada. Ensenada is no beauty but is more enjoyable than ms Holiday. It was our first and last Carnival cruise.

Why was SeaBreeze an omen of anything apart from a gay desire to over dramatise everything? My worst trip was on the Olympic where we had beds which were as furrowed as the bed in which Mother had laid for years in Psycho, where - as we were a gay couple - the steward opened the cabin door and threw the tea tray across the room rather than coming in, where the best food was summed up by an American girl running down to the lido and screaming "Quick -get to the buffet eberyone - ther's apples and ham". Never again.

I think Mike is referring to Epirotiki's OLYMPIC, former EMPRESS OF BRITAIN, QUEEN ANNA MARIA, CARNIVALE, FIESTAMARINA, etc. I don't think he's old enough to be referring to White Star's OLYMPIC.

My worst cruise was on COSTA ALLEGRA (this was before Carnival bought them). The service sucked, she was the most unstable ship I've ever been on, the food was not very good (they ran out of pizza!), I couldn't get a seat at the bar because they were filled with officers, the pool deck had next to no shade and everywhere I went, I had to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke (which was to be expected).

And I STILL had a good time.

I have to say I've never had a cruise that was bad and I had wished I stayed home. However, I did take a budget cruise in 1973 on Chandris' old Ellinis out of Baltimore that was far from perfect, but still fun. This was about as far as you could get from luxury cruising. There were many Australians working on board who were great fun. In fact, two of my friends stayed on and took the transatlantic crossing to Southampton and loved every minute.
