2007 Cruise Survey

Joe at TravelPage.com

The problem with that survey Joe, is because I have have only cruised on one particular line, I can't answer most of the questions.

Good Questions Frosty4...

1.What is your favorite cruise line?

Normally the one I'm on at the time.

2. Do you take the cruise air/transfer package?

I tend to organise my own air and pre or post stay via the Net.

3. What type stateroom do you prefer?

I'd prefer an owner's suit or duplex, but my wallet prefers something more modestly priced. I like a seaview but find that I do not really use balconies even when I've had one.

4.What dinner seating do you go to?

Always 2nd. The 1st is too much of a rush especially after a shore tour.

5. Do you smoke ,drink, or gamble?

I drink in moderation. I do try and avoid smokey bars on ships.

6. Do you go on the ship's excursions or on your own?

Both. Often you can do your own thing in port at a fraction of the shore tour cost. Other times the excursions are the best option.

7. Do you go to the nightly shows? Which ones do you avoid?

I see no reason not to at least check all the shows out, as they last just one hour, are normally free and you can gamble and drink all night long after, if you wish,

I useually enjoy the production shows and sometimes the guest entertainers, but I really dislike the audience participation type such as Mr & Mrs quiz's.

8. Ever had an issue(s) on your cruise?

A few, mainly cabin issues. They were resolved to my satisfaction.

9.Ever missed the ship at any port?

Not yet and hopefully never.

1. It is difficult to name only one line as some have a very diverse fleet - but if you want me to mention some I name Sea Cloud Cruises, Hapag Lloyd and Crystal Cruises.

2. No, most air packages are not to my needs. (arriving one day early and/or leaving a day late)

3. My favourite cabins were those with a door to the open deck. (I know, this is rare) Generally I would say preferably not inside - balcony is not necessary - the locations is important.

4. Late sitting. (I like ships with one sitting)

5. I do not smoke or gamble - and I guess that my consumption of alcohol (e.g. wine for the meals etc.) can not be called drinking.

6. In most ports I am on my own - there are however some excursions which are more practical than doing in alone - also, I notice that when I am travelling alone I tend to book 'more' of the organized excursions. (still not a lot)

7. Depends a lot on the entertainment offered (hence on the ship) - most production shows are not to my taste (brrrrrr) - so I usually do not attend the entertainment. I nevertheless like magicians - to name a "classic" of onboard entertainment.

8. Yes - the whole ship was a debris field.
But beside this ONE cruise I would not say that I ever had 'issues' - some cruises were not as perfect as they could have been - but e.g. modest food is not an issue for me.

9. Luckily, I never missed my ship.

  1. HAL by choice (though last cruised in 2001).
  2. Sometimes - depends on circumstances.
  3. Inside, usually. Don't spend much time in the room.
  4. Second sitting.
  5. Drink only.
  6. Very seldom on ship's excursions. Many regular ports not worth visiting anyway - often stay on board.
  7. Seldom.
  8. Nothing major. Yet. Almost getting picked up by one of the cruise staff doesn't really count. (But it was extremely tempting. I had to be stern with myself to behave.)
  9. No.
