Last month we did a Westerm Carribean cruise on Celebrity's Silo.
The cruise was Fine till the last evening We had your choice dining. They put us way in the back where they had seated guests from previous nights. Catered to them Our service was SLOW. Almost 2 hours just for the 2 of us.
A couple adjacent to us had 2 year old who was coughing very badly .I wonder if he was screened for illness like adults???
Next morning we had a 10:30 flight which meant getting off the ship at 7:15. Keep in mind we had all our luggage to move.
Getting an elevator at that time was impossible. We were on deck 8 everyone was going UP to the buffet so the elevators were packed .It took quite a while to get one to go down to deck 3 We had to split up in able to go down. Once on deck 3 we had a VERY long line to go down to deck 2 .Two elevators used for this .Got off the ship at 8 AM.
Dragging our 2 big suitcases and carryons we then had to walk a good 3 blocks to Customs.
We were beat and hot after this.
Customs was OK and we got a shuttle to the airport quickly $10/11 dollars/person cheaper than the bus.
Airport went smoothly However plane was over booked(non stop flight to ORD)Getting home was OK.

WE got home Sunday just after lunch. By Monday night I was coughing badly and so was Mrs. Frosty(she had a flu shot) I didn't.
After a few days things got really bad and I ended up in the hospital for a week with Type "A" Influenza and pneumonia. I was miserable the hospital stay was not at all pleasant No sleep ,poor food , too many IVs and pills.
Not sure where we got the flu bug but I can have a pretty good guess.

Moral of the story : we should have moved at diner to a different table. Gotten a later flight out using the valet luggage service.--well worth the cost. Those who have used it can tell you how good it is.
Get flu and pneumonia shots in the fall .
So at this point in recovery mode. Sort of bummed out about cruising ???
Tip: Don't cruise during Spring Break, Cruise during the Summer when kids invade the ships..
