There is a nice video report from the BBC here regarding the lengthening/stretching of Stena Britannica and Stena Hollandica.

Sadley the video won't play. found an virtual tour of the ships on the Stena site.
Stena Hollandica.
There interiors are simply ugly and looks like one big fastfood restaurant.

Greetings Ben.

Why is she ugly? Of course she's not a cruise ship, she's an overnight ferry and needs to have somewhat more hard wearing and practical furnishings for the hard use she is under. I think her interiors look just fine for her purpose. It would not look right on QM2 but then QM2's furnishings would look quite ridiculous & OTT on an overnight ferry

The stretch makes the vessels look far nicer than they were imho. Photos of Stena Britannica be seen on FOF, including many of the stretch under Förlängningsbilder/arbetet.

Understand that they are ferry's. But they look so cold and not welcoming, compared with P&O Pride of Hull and Pride of Rotterdam. An cruise ship interior we see more and more specially in the Scandinavia market (Color Line etc) Even the older P&O twins sailing from Zeebrugge have better designed interiors. Agree with you they are much better looking on the outside after rebuilding.

Greetings Ben.

I do agree that interiors look a little on the austere spartan side and do not seem to be terribly comfortable for a 6 hours crossing. So maybe back to Sealink days again?? ;-)) Mind you it doesn't look as gross, and it looks very luxerious compared to the old ones in the 70's early 80's. The whole lounge food set up remind me a bit of the MS Zeeland (ex Peter Wessel) in 1984-1986
Like everything these days interior desgin seems to be closely connected with onboard revenue. So no comfortable quiet lounges anymore. Here on DFDS they have stuffed all remaining areas on the ship into revenue generating places too.

I have worked for SMZ on the ferries during the summer from 82-86. From the old Koningin Juliana to the "huge" Koningin Beatrix. SMZ never had their act together so no surpise they were taken over by Stena in 89. Here in Oslo the Stena Saga hasn't got a good reputation either and is considered to be way below Color Line and DFDS.

These ships are really long now... I expected that that lenght would look a bit ugly but when I saw the Britannica I quite liked her profile.
