Ferry Settsu is approaching to her berth at the Kobe Rokko Island


Ferry Suo is berthed at the Shin Moji Ferry Terminal

Hankyu Ferry signed a contract with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to build two new ferries to replace Ferry Suo and Ferry Settsu.

She will start her service in January 2015.

I find it very interesting how the tug at the stern acts as a "brake" during the launch, slowing down the speed of entry of the ferry. Seems quite dangerous and it also makes me wonder about damage to the new ship's stern.

The Successor to the Ferry Settsu is Izumi and to be debut in next January. The Ferry Settsu connects Kobe with Shinmoji but Izumi will operate on the Izumiotsu and Shinmoji route.

Tsukushi in Shinmoji (Video clip)

Yamato in Shinmoji (Video clip)

Tsukushi / Yamato leaves Izumiotsu at 17:30, Arrives Shinmoji at 06:00 (Next day), Leaves Shinmoji at 17:30, Arrives Izumiotsu at 06:00 (Next day).

Upon two new ferries delivery in the spring of 2015, Tsukushi and Yamato will be deployed to kobe - Shinmoji route.

Izumi in Kobe (Video clip)

Izumi made her shakedown cruise on January 15th from Shinmoji to Izumiotsu, Upon her return she stopped at Kobe.
Izumi will start her regular schedule at 5:30pm this evening from shinmoji to Izumiotsu.
