Is just about completed. I'm so glad to get the worst part over. All that is left is the little that needs to be done today and tomorrow and I will finally be out of that fire trap. It was also beginning to sink in one corner of the bedroom. I slept like a winner last night. Now if I could just get rid of the rest of my spasms from all of this moving, I'd be as right as rain.

And I also have good news.

Finally closed the deal on my house and the SOLD sign went up last night. I can't wait to get out of this house that I've been in for 53 years.

Good luck to you Debbie. I think we will both be much happier once we are where we want to be!

No more dealing with the gardeners/snow removal; getting up at 6am to put out the garbage because if you put t out the night before the racoons get into it. No more pool to maintain, which was a pain in the butt this year and only used 3 times; no stairs; no going down to basement to do the laundry - laundry room right inside my unit. Only thing is I'll have to replace all the appliances and washer and dryer (all old) but I can do that over time.

Diane

Thanks, Dirk,

53 years in one home was far too long. I should have moved 2-3 years after Peter passed away; not stay here for 12 years!

2 work colleagues:

one lived in a large home in Westchester County NY. Husband passed away and did not want to be alone inside the large house in a bedroom community.
Downsized across town into a 2 bedroom condo with doorman, pool, recroom, and a 5 minute drive to all the shopping; mixed ages so not a senior ghetto, and people to socialize with during the day. She is as happy as a bug.
Grandchildren were just getting their first apartments. Grandma took what she wanted for the condo, and gave the remaining furniture and household items to the grandkids who are just starting out. It is not always ideal, but saves a lot of money, stuff they really like becomes an heirloom, kitchen stuff gets replaced when worn out.

Another retired co-worker; both cancer survivors, sold huge house downsized into a 2 bedroom in a retirement community since she still undergoes chemo. He an engineer drew templates of all the furniture they wanted to keep. Laid out the plan in CAD, gave away to grandchildren, children, and charity, what they no longer wanted. They moved 2 towns away so close to doctors, and shopping. Went to visit and the new apartment feels exactly like their previous home.

Congratulations Diane...I'm glad you got your home sold too. I'm still busy with unpacking and getting all settled in. I don't regret not having to own a home. It's not worth it, I don't have the resources to take care of one. I'm so happy in the new apartment, and yes; it comes with a major relief that we don't have to deal with things that we don't have the money for or to deal with at all. (((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) to you. I'm already putting up Florida themed murals and cutouts of birds and palm trees. The inside of the apartment is very 1950's-1960's design, which makes it very special. What a lift it is to have a home off my shoulders.

And thank you Dirk, I know I will have a less stress. It's just very comfortable in here.
