I know that many of you are on facebook and might have seen the sad news, but for those of you who aren't, and since everyone here cares greatly about Ben it seem only right to tell you all with great sadness that Ben passed away yesterday, according to what is being said on facebook.

I'm lost for words. I'm so sorry for his family.

Did anyone know him well enough to write a little tribute to him and tell us something about his short life?

So sad, he was only 42, would have turned 43 in November. We wish him a "Bon Voyage": may he find peace and comfort.

I didn't actually know Ben. Never met him. But this sad news put a lump in my throat the size of a softball. I am sure he touched the lives of many people around the world, and his shared knowledge of Dutch cruise history enlightened us all. Cruise Talk has lost a long valued member and friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and loved ones.

Rest in Peace Ben.

Terrible news indeed.

Over the last few years Ben and I had a few dealings through Ebay: he bought several Holland America items off me (there's a shocker!). He was always very cordial and polite...a totally joyous soul.

We need more like him in this world.

Here's a photo from Ben's FB page--I like to think that he's either waving us good-bye, or beckoning us to come along as he's off on a new adventure:

Computer back up and running, thank goodness.

There's another picture of Ben on HAL's BLOG and a nice comment from one of the Moderators.

May he rest in peace. He was such a dear man.
