I opened my comcast email and see I received an email from Lukman Hussain. It says he is a professional freelancer. and he made a data base of all users of travelserver.net and shipsspotting.com. It had a large list of email addresses from this website. He states he makes all type of data bases and how to pay him. Did anyone else get this? I can forward it to you if you want to see it. Send me an email if so. Otherwise its to the spam pile.

Jeff,

Please send me a copy of the email to jkoshuta at travelserver dot net.

I am fairly certain that our user database has not been compromised but would like to see what this person is claiming.

Thanks

Joe

Jeff,

I did get it. Thank you.

The sample list of emails he attached could easily have been collected by simply clicking on the users profile page if the users have their profile set to allow others to see their email address. You can log into your profile and turn this feature off if you would prefer not to share that information with others.

I still don't think he has a complete list of email addresses but will contact him to see what he is up to and let you know what I find out.

I got a funny email just the other day. I did not open it because I assumed it was spam, but it had the same information that you provided above.

I changed my preference on my profile just now.

Spammers are going to great lengths to farm email addresses. They come in short bursts over days at a time I noticed.

Thanks for the heads up.

this may also explain why the Shipspotting.com site is down.
