Yesterday on invitation by foundation De LIJN and De Rotterdam bv, members of the foundation have there chance to visit the Rotterdam. And we the members took this opportunity to visit the Grand Dame. A view thousand visitors came to see the city of Rotterdam girl next door. The date was quite special, January 31 marks also the birthday of HM Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (she became 72) as Crown Princess she was on board during the Maiden Voyage.

The Rotterdam looks splendid, you cane see the owners have restored here with an unbelievable eye fore detail. Although she was not ready yet, and some details have to be finished, she looks as if she was brand new.

Some lounges where closed such as the Club Room, Ocean bar and the new Lido restaurant they where not ready yet. The Sky Room was closed to due to a booking to another company.

Throughout the ship you notice the adaptations fore here new role. But never at a loss of character of the fabulous interiors.

Queens Room, very relaxing room, comfortable and bright.

Tropic Bar, nice bar with the huge room width mural in bright colors.

Ritz Carlton (now called Grand Ballroom) Much is said about the room she is simply grand. But after yesterday not my favorite.

Dinning rooms, details are simply fun to explore specially the ceramic decorations. Dinning here is as dinning under the stars. The most fantastic thing in these two rooms are there ceilings simply marvelous.

Smoking room, on recent pictures of the room I was a bid worried that the new (original design) colorful leather fabric was to much fore the room. But happy I found out that the room looks fabulous. They have installed new larger service tables. The placed them over the originals. First I did not notice. Very clever done. On all time the are able to remove these tables.

Lynbaan, well the shopping area is transformed in a lovely modern shop.

Library/Card room both rooms will used for meetings etc.

Then my favorite and i think the most impressive room on board The Ambassador Lounge. What a classic and elegant room this is. With here sort of oval shape here cozy sittings and chairs here colors and dark wood. The whole room remind me on a classic Brown Dutch café.

Made a video of the day, although it was not possible to take better shots. There where simply to much poeple, it give a very good impression of the ship and the renovation.

Greetings Ben.

Thanks, Ben. You did a very fine job with the video. The ship looks wonderful and as you say, looks almost new! I think you would find the Ritz-Carlton at its best when seen at night. It's a spectacular sight at night. Great to see so much of the original furniture being used in the Queen's Room, the Tropic Bar, The Ambassador, and in the Ritz-Carlton. How well it must have been made! My only disappointment is the Smoking Room carpeting. The design is the same, but the colors are not the same as the original. It seems to have a lot of brown which was not the case formerly. Thanks again, Ben.

Ben, that was just excellent. I think I had seen my friend Henk on the video too. He was there for the festivities. I enjoyed this video a lot, thank you so much. She's an excellent lady.

The darker color is not brown but dark purple. On video and picture it turned out brown. The design of the carpet is used in the redesigned former officers quarters in grades of white Grey and black. Here a picture from Aad,

Greetings Ben.
