Hi!
I'm going to be on the Holiday cruise come this spring break and I was reading up on the formal night. As much as I would like to get a tux, I don't think I can afford the outrageous rental price. I have a 'dark' suit like the ad ask for that I look pretty ridiculous in. However, I also have a boss double breasted Olive suit (not black or blue dark, but, olive) that makes me look like a gangster. Would I really look foolish wearing the olive suit even though the night calls for a 'dark' suit? I look 10x better in that olive suit. Thanks for you opinions!

Hi Bro,
Hey, it's your vacation you should wear what you want to wear. I've seen men wear red blazers on some cruises. As long as you feel comfortable, and are dressed nice it will be fine. The dress attire is just a suggested idea from the cruise lines. In other words go for it!

depends on the cruise line - not that you will be tarred & feathered, but maybe distinctly out of place - if you are on the low-end lines like Carnival, as long as the vital spots are covered, no one cares (or would notice anyway). Princess runs about 80% - 90% formal for men, the rest in dark black/blue suits. the fancier lines run about 100% formal. but let me ask you this, do you know you can get a tux for about $100 at most discount men's stores? and since you only wear it for a few hours a couple of times a year, it doesn't need to wear as well as a regular suit - besides, since you will undoubtedly get addicted to cruising, might as well start off right! playing dress up like the grown-ups after a day of playing in the sun can be down right sybaritic!

Wear the Olive. I bet you will look like a babe.

Keep in mind that you can rent a tux a think it is in the 79.00 range and you keep it for the whole week.

Wear that suit if you like it and feel comfortable in it. You are going on this cruise to have fun. Most people are not really concerned with the color of suit you wear. I wouldn't suggest shorts, but I have seen people wear all different colors of sport coats, and suits on a cruise. You can rent a tux on the ship if you want to, but it is not necessary on most ships. Just be yourself and you will have a blast!
