I will be cruising on Princess to Alaska and was wondering if I could wear a grey suit for the formal evening. I am 30 years old and this suit is more suited for my age bracket. Any suggestions?

It should be no problem not to wear a tux on formal night on any cruise, including Alaska.

What a wonderful trip, what ship? I took the Sun Princess to Alaska in May 96 and am definitely going to re-do that trip someday.

I have been on three Princess Cruises and most passengers do wear formal wear on the formal nights. If you don't want to wear a Tux, I would recommend a dark suit. Otherwise, you will feel out of place.

My wife and I sailed on the Sun Princess in Alaska last June. Only a very small percentage of the men wore tuxes. Most of the men did wear dark blue or black suits, however there were exceptions to that too. Dark suits are definitely the norm. But you won't be banned from the dining room if you show up in grey. Have a great trip. Take a good camera and plenty of film!!!

I have been on two Princess ships and found a dark suit is more the norm than tuxes. You won't stick out like a sore thumb in your grey suit as last year a fellow behind us was dressed like a cowboy(cboy hat, leather vest, jeans and boots)which I don't think is formal anywhere in the world. Although a dark suit or tux are suggested, they won't turf you out of the dining room for not wearing them.
