Haven't been on the ship yet but I can give you some historical information about it.
The ship was build at Wartsila Yards (today Kvaerner Masa Yards) in Finland for Royal Viking Line, Oslo (Kloster Group) as one of a series of three identical sisterships (famous as the "Royal Viking Trio", the three highest rated ships in the world). The original name was MS ROYAL VIKING STAR, 28492 grt, first entered in service on 26th June 1972.
In 1981 the ship was stretched, like its two sisterships MS ROYAL VIKING SEA and ROYAL VIKING SKY.
In 1991, the ship was transfered to Norwegian Cruise Line, Oslo (Kloster Group) and renamed MS WESTWARD.
In May 1994, MS WESTWARD was transfered to Royal Cruise Line, Piraeus (Kloster Group) and renamed MS STAR ODYSSEY.
In November 1996, after Royal Cruise Line ceased operations, the ship was finally sold from Kloster Group and bought by Fred. Olsen Cruise Line and is now operated as the MS BLACK WATCH.
The ship is performing some good cruises in true Fred. Olsen style today, mainly for British passengers, but nothing is anymore like in her former days as the MS ROYAL VIKING STAR.
registry: Nassau / Bahamas
Officers / crew: European
