My husband and I are professionals in our early thirties. We hope to take a Caribbean cruise next spring and are trying to select the best cruise ship/itinerary.
We have heard good things about Celebrity (Century & Mercury), Princess (Dawn Princess) and the new RCI (Voyager of the Seas). We enjoy fine dining, good ports and quality entertainments. Our favorite vacation spot is Bermuda. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We have friends who fit your profile and they always sail with Crystal Cruises. First class.

While Princess is not quite as upscale as Crystal, it would be a good choice. I have found the food and entertainment on Princess to be excellent. My personal favorite Caribbean itinerary is the Southern. Would also suggest a 7 day cruise, since it would have more people your age. The longer cruises tend to have a older age mix. Whatever you choose, have a great time!

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the lines you've listed. If you're looking for great food, go with Celebrity. However, they don't have great entertainment, so you'd be better off with Princess or RCI for that. Service should be similar on all 3 lines, and ports are definitely up to you to compare and decide on when you check out the itineraries. If you want a glitzy cruiseship, don't take Celebrity either, they have a more quiet elegance whereas Princess and RCI have the big atriums and the chrome and glass.

You also might think about researching the age of the ships and how many people are aboard. If you are going during school vacations, expect more people on board (over stated normal capacity as there will be 3-4 in many cabins). That stretches the resources of the ship, which obviously means service will suffer.

I'm finding in my research and travels that there isn't one "perfect" cruiseline and each has their own strengths and weaknesses, the trick is to find the one that matches your needs the closest, then go and have a great time. Also, find a cruise only travel agent to work with, they will be able to tell you so much about each line and each ship.

Happy cruising!

Check with Carnival Cruise for the Inspiration cruise. We had made our reservatioin already for April 29, 2000. The etinery will change for November 1999. The new ports will be St-Thomas, Ste-Lucie, Aruba and Carcaso with 2 days of sailing.
