Christine again. Thanks everyone - especially those who said people are people, not their age. What was I thinking? It had been beaten in to my head by TAs that HAL was an older crowd, so I was brainwashed. I never stopped to think, hey I don't care. I like all ages (although I am not a parent, so the younger ages terrify me).

Finally got good prices on HAL's Maasdam, at least close to Celebrity's Horizon (although one he HAL is an inside cabin, the other an outside)

Any thoughts on whether to cruise Maasdam or Horizon - just on a ship-to-ship interior comparison. The Maasdam seems more unusual, which I like, more artsy. Plus I think it has a movie theater, and Horizon does not. I'm not too sure about the nightclub situation - anyone familiar. I like to dance, but it doesn't seem Horizon has a night scene??

HAL does have a separate theatre and even serve popcorn - free!!! Movies are shown 2-3 times a day.
Can't compare the interiors of the ships as I have never been on Celebrity and the Maasdam is the only HAL ship I have not been on.
They do have dancing in the Ocean Bar before dinner each night and may also have it in the evenings in the same bar but as I am not a dancer do not know. There is a disco in the Crow's Nest every night. They also have Karoke nights. Hopes this helps you.
Inside/outside doesn't matter - all are large and you spend very little time in the cabin.
Have a great cruise - when are you sailing?

I am sailing December 11 or 13 on a 10-day. I hope this isn't too much for a first timer.

Good choice Christine! Inside/outside - the service is the same - and you can dance up a storm - nightly disco in the Crows Nest.
