What is the weather like in May in Bermuda? Is it warm enough to swim in the ocean?
Any comments will be appreciated.

I have been in Bermuda Apr 26 through to May 10 and swam in the Ocean at Elbow Beach and the water was warmer than it was in Megans Bay, St.Thomas in January. So go for it - Bermuda is one beautiful place - heaven on earth as they say.....

My wife and I were there on our honeymoon in May of '98. I suspect that whether one considers the water warm enough to swim may be relative to where they're from. I can't imagine that someone from Florida, for example, would have found the water warm enough. I'm from New Jersey, and I thought it was a little cold. I waded in, though, nonetheless.

But absolutely, Bermuda is magnificent. Have a great time.

Hi Scottylass - I too have been sweimming in
Bermuda in May - quite a few years ago. What Joe says is right - Bermudians considered us quite mad. I learned to swin the the Deveron! Having spent so many years in Canada, I'd freeze to death now. If I could afford it, I'd spend at least four months of the year in Bermuda....it is heaven on earth!

- luvtacruise - you could sunbathe at John Smith's Bay (Flatts
Village) it's small and very sheltered.

Luvtacruise....

For what it's worth,I got a very bad sunburn in Bermuda on my honeymoon,in May (2nd week of the month). My husband swam in the ocean and loved it(I don't swim).May is a wonderful time of the year to be in Bermuda. It was about 84F back then in '82,sunny every day. It was also my first experience of playing golf in a rain shower of about 10 minutes...then it was gone and the glorious sun returned. You will love the ambience of the island. Don't miss Horseshoe Bay..it is quite spectacular.....and don't forget to take a horse and buggy ride....so romantic.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

My My Green, you must have been hardy swimming in the Deveron... I suppose Joe is right, it does all depend on where you come from, I am afraid the waters off the Scottish coast are freezing to say the least, so the waters in Bermuda felt like a bath to me.
