toobuckets We've cruised with RCI several times the last 2/00 and we didn't experiance any kid problems. If you want better food and service go with Celebrity in my opinion.
In Sept. and Oct. kids should be in school anyway. We've been on the Nortic Empress and the Zenith, both were beautiful.
Good luck

I have experienced the "kids running wild" and totally disrupting the ship of RCI and it was not a fun time. Also, this was the end of Jan - when kids should be in school!! From the letter I received from RCI they do not plan to make any changes as far as enforcing the rules - if the parents do not want to co-operate they will not interfer!!! I've been on 24 cruises and never experienced anything like this last one - our group is booked on Carnival in Jan. RCI has lost our business till we hear they've changed their policies. You may want to rethink Sept/Oct for Bermuda - it can be quite cool and seas very rough that time of year - if you check a map it is across from South Carolina and could be cool then. Also, a word to the wise - check your calendar the first week in October could be a bad week to cruise or do anything. Bermuda is beautiful - you'll really enjoy it.

toobuckets - just asked a friend, who lives on Cape Cod, if she would travel to Bermuda in Sept/Oct. and here is part of her answer -"I personally would not go that time of year as it could be very rough even if there wasn't a hurricane. And, yes, it is still hurricane season in the Atlantic--until about the middle of October".

I think you will find that the "kids running wild" occurred only once on Voyager in January. Remember that January is peak vacation time for people in South America.

Jwine..Good luck with Carnival, but I think you will find the same crowds.

starfish - yes the day is in the second week in October but they are off the week before - learned that lesson at Disney World a few years ago!

mhp - have sailed on Carnival before and never saw anything like this on RCI - they were not from South America, they were from New York. Carnival now has uniformed security walking around and everyone is kept under control.

jwine, and just what do you think a uniformed security guard is going to do to kids? I know all ships have security personal but the last thing I want to see on my cruise is uniformed guards on patrol.
It's really ashame you had such a bad experiance on your vacation and that the cruise line had no answers.I hope it never happens again to you or I or anyone else,I love cruising too much!
Good Luck on your next voyage.

Sorry to make trouble with my question. What is the day on the second week in October you are talking about. There is nothing on my Calendar. The elders cant help either.
Have noticed this our Canadian thanksgiving but we do not make trouble.

starship - I was wondering the same thing. What day are you talking about? toobuckets didn't mention a particular day - he/she just said "Sept/Oct".
Green - why is the first week of October a bad time to do anything? Don't understand. Were you referring to hurrican season?

I just got off of a Carnival ship at the end of March (prime Spring Break time) and there were several kids and many college age (hopefully 21 year olds with the amount they were drinking) kids on board...

At no time did we have too many kids running around getting underfoot. In fact, the only time I did see them was during a bingo game when they were doing their own "people bingo." Each and every one of them were well-mannered and were having a good time without ruining anyone else's. (And I have an increasing intolerance for kids!) The only adults I saw 'corralling' them were the Camp Carnival counselors...no security guards were "on patrol" that I saw at all except on deck late at night. (looking for jumpers???)

Hi sympatico - I was asking for clarification of 'jwine's' post - quote-Also, a word to the wise - check your calendar the first week in October could be a bad week to cruise or do anything-unquote.
Incidentally one of the roughest cruises to and from Bermuda arrived back in New York on Oct. 30th or 31'77- it was our Honeymoon cruise and I remember it well...ask the Jazz people :-) .

When I looked at the calander the only thing I noticed was Friday the 13th in the second week. I don't know if this is what jwine was referring to or not.

toobuckets We cruised to Bermuda in early Aug.had a smooth ride down except when we hit Cape Hatterus and a very interesting ride home(very rough) 1st hurricane of the season.
I talked to friends who cruised the Nordic Empress last Oct. They had a great cruise and beautiful weather.Just a chance you take with a bargain price.

I think that you are getting good advice toobuckets.
I took my annual cruise to Bermuda with RCI last October but never again. Disruptions created by unsupervised kids was unreal to the point that we considered returning home by air. Celebrity is a safer bet.
On reflection, I remember noticing a small number of uncouth adult passengers .By this I mean that they were very shabbily dressed, had deplorable table manners and appeared to lack common coutesy. I would almost bet that these kids were their offspring.

I've cruised to Bermuda during all the
months....April-Oct. Rough weather can
occur at any time....I see no reason or
sense to try to out-judge Mother Nature.

I hear Pacific Princess will be doing
Bermuda from NYC soon.....she was built
with this run in mind so give her some
consideration......otherwise, I would go
with one of the smaller Celebrity ships.
