We have been on all the major cruise lines, except for Costa. Can anyone compare it to one of the other lines? We have just booked the new ship ATLANTICA. We got a deal we couldn't refuse, a free balcony upgrade.I don't know if we'll like Costa, I heard it's very European. I'm a fast food type. Please help!

bonny; We have been on Costa (Romanticia) twice. One was a great cruise and the other quite different. The different one was the fact that there was a 750+ convention on board. I guess I would rate it a little better than the Norweigen Sea.

The food was very good to exellent not as much variety as one would expect but what was served was delecious. You had to ask for water and little stuff we take for granted but, I must say we only had to ask once. The service was not HAL but good.
The ship is mostly european and I thought that flavor was a nice change. All announcements were given in five languages. Being European people smoke and they smoke everywhere (I smoke) and it got to me at times. The Pizza was great for fast food. I did not think the entertainment came close to RCCI,HAL,NCL.. When are you going? We are tring to decide weather to go back to back on this ship or go Volendam ten day this winter (Jan. or Feb.) Let me know what you think of the new ship

Hi Bonny!
Have sailed all the majors also, and a few not so major. Been on Celebrity 4 times but decided we needed a change, so booked Atlantica for 12/10/00. Balcony is costing us less than an inside on Century in 1996. From what I've read, Costa can be a lot of fun and the food very good if you like Italian.....which we love. When are you going?

We are going 01/14/01. We booked it,because Costa is offering a balcony when you pay for a Cat.5. As a recent exsmoker, I don't think I'll like the smokers. We have till Nov. to make up our minds. That's when final payment is due. I like balconys, but I'm not sure about Costa. Holland has kind of spoiled me.

bonny......

Smoking on Costa is more a problem when in
European cruising rather than in the
Caribbean. It seems that smoking is a thing
of concern whenever sailing with many pax
who are from other than USA and Canada. The
Asians are heavy smokers for example.

Hi. I think you would be totally mad to turn this offer down. Peronally I love the Costa ships, especially the newer ones. I love the decor and find it much nicer that the Las Vegas styling of other lines. And there would be so much culture to absorb on board, instead of everyone being of similar nationality and status on other lines. And with a balcony cabin into the bargain . . . go for it!

Paddy.
