The message is the same as the question. This board is great for consumer info. which is very good. But do you think the responses ever change the ways the cruises lines do business.

They should read the boards, but just as important, future passengers should read them. I trust fellow cruisers more than the ad agencies and CEO's that write the brochures. NCL (or the powers that be there) probably would like to personally wring my neck.

To be honest, I don't think they care one bit that we want smaller ships. No ice rinks, no
rock climbing smokestacks.
Too much glitz is waaaaayyy too much for us.
They keep most of their vessels small in Europe, they have the right idea.
The lines here in the states just DON'T WANT TO
DO IT. And shame on them.

I doubt it, they are too busy counting thier money!

Dambrosi, "We" like small ships but the general public is having a love affair with mega-ships!

Any company worth being in business should be reading the message boards. If nothing else, they can pick up on things that go wrong (or right) during cruises. As far as us designing their ships (I think that's going on at the HAL site on Cruise Critic), forget it; I'm sure there is a lot of high-level research going on all the time.

I am sure they do. A few years ago I wrote a positive letter tothe editor of a travel magazine. In it I said I was cruising with the line (Celebrity ) in the near future.
Prior to our sailing we were upgraded 5 categories,we had dinner with the captain, drinks etc. before and after dinner with the captain, flowers in our cabin, and few other small items.

If they read a letter to the editor, then they sure read these posts.

I can tell you that they do indeed read the boards. In fact, some cruise lines actually have employees whose responsibilities include monitoring what is said about them on the Internet - I've been contacted by them regarding posts made on this site.

(Joe, please forward the following messages to all the cruise lines you are in correspondance with.
Thanks, Paddy)

"Can I just state for the record I love your cruise ships, your employees, your food, and your cruise line in general. You are great. If 'twere possible I would marry your cruise line. I would tell every person I meet to go on your wonderfully fabulous, fabulously wonderful cruise line."

Nudge nudge wink wink say no more,
Paddy.

Willy Paul -
Bully for you!!! Ther's more to this than a 'positive letter'.
I've been 'positive' about HAL ships for years now - never received so much as a daisy - never mind flowers in my cabin!
Where did I go wrong - what's your secret?

Way to "suck up" Paddy!
I hope they are reading all the negative reaction to the new Freestyle cruising.I was very happy when RCCL stopped charging extra for a lot of things. I also think they should read reviews. Maybe they can find out what some of their employees are up to?
Green.. I have been saying GLOWING things about Celebrity for years. If any of you nice Celebrity people want to send some wine to room 7000 on the Millennium, on Jan. 21, I would say many more nice things

Hello I. (Green)

That is funny "not so much as a Daisy", I got a laugh at that. It seems that we fall into the category that we have to work for everything that we want in life, no such luck to get free anything eh.....

Cheers
M.

I wonder if cruise lines have PR people who pose as ordinary cruisers to post on these boards. Does anyone who posts here always seem to come to the defense of certain cruise lines or otherwise try to put a positive spin on any troubles being discussed? Let the witch-hunt begin!

I am officially pleading my innocence. I really don't work for Airtours plc. Just out of curiosity, how would you find out if I was lying? Put me on an Airtours ship for a week and see if I melt? Please feel free to try. Tehehe.

And before y'all get any ideas, "sucking up is a way of life, it's not just something you do when it suits you.

Paddy.

I work for a cruise line and quite close to the seat of power.
I read this page as often as I can as it benefits me in my job to do so. Information is power as they say
When I submit comments though, its as a private individual and not as an employee of the Line. I would never ask Joe or Malcolm to change or withdraw anyone else's comments nor , do I imagine, they would ever consider doing so for a split second anyway.

For those cruiseline employees who have responded...is any action ever taken or suggestions found on these boards acted upon?

Can you remember an instance when a change was made because of comments posted by passengers on a bulletin board? Just curious.
