We have a new Cruise Talk registered user whom posted a topic concerning the Bahamas. This person needs information concerning a cruise and would like to hear from other cruise talk users about their experiences. I have noticed time and time again that some users can posts subjects concerning nothing and get responces out the wauzoo (which ships have the best flush) while others can ask serious questions and get very little responce. I believe this forums members should try to answer the questions asked by all, especially the new members.

cncservo; I surely agree with you new users should not take it personal though as users that have been around awhile are responded too the same way. My observation has been not very many responses to any caribbean port, unless it is about something simple like how the air smelled when they were there. It is like they stay on the ship or just do not want to share their experiences! Kevin

cncservo; Actually now that I have seen the post and the amount of time posted it did fairly good. I usually only get 5 responces in any one post. I guessed I just asked my questions wrong. but I still agree with you.

I suppose it depends on how many people have actually been to the place concerned. I am always happy to help on European ports as I have been to quite a number but know only a few elsewhere in the world.

Another angle on this is keeping quiet if you have nothing good to say about the port/ship/line. I know that I have not replied to some questions about cetain ships because I would have ripped them to shreds and the person is travelling on them the next week! Perhaps the lack of response is sometimes discretion?

A valid point Cncservo! If I have the experience to comment, I do. (I've not been to the Bahamas).

You are right, the 'silly' postings, some of which are mine, often get a fantastic response! All I can say in my defence, is that there should be room in CruiseTalk for 'fun' as well as 'serious' posts.

Sometimes serious posts turn into 'fun' and the 'fun' ones become serious!

I don't look at the name. I always look at the question. I will respond to my favorite subjects. Most of the subjects I know nothing about. I must have missed this question about the Bahamas. I love the Bahamas.

cncservo - what was the question about the Bahamas?
There are many, many beautiful little islands but most ships go to Nassau - and for a limited time - the options are limited.

We've been there many times - on a short, last stop. It's usually a crowded port - wall to wall ships of all shapes and sizes.

We have a favourite ice cream shop - an 'in and out' stroll through stores on the main drag, maybe a visit to the Straw Market and a decadent sundae and the meander back to the ship usually fills our time.

If 'posters' would do a bit of port research, e.g. Destinations on this site and many other URL's - and then post some specific questions, they would perhaps have more responses.

Bangor Boy posted a question concerning the Bahamas and received very few responces. I believe we owe him some assistance since he is a new cruiser.

I can't agree more . When i first found this
site i was so excited i couldn't what to start asking questions. But for a while i
found that there was a bit of a inner club.
But with time i started to get some great
feed back from other more seasoned travelers,
now i like to look in every day just to see
what's going on.

Hi...it strikes me that often the response one gets depends a lot on how the question is worded.
Whilest on the subject, I think one annoying thing is when someone asks a broad question and people do answer, they don't bother to come back and say if it was what they were looking for...lack of courtesy??

gohaze - I'm with you on this one.

Somewhere I've seen a box which may be ticked if you wish to be notified of replies received to your comment or question. Never used it but will when I can dream up a catchy topic (like Malcolm is a master at!)

Happy New Year when it comes.

Cheers from deep freeze North Toronto.

I.

Hi juddy -

I've made a good shot at travelling the Eastern half of your wonderful land - overland all the way except for the flight from Cairns to Alice. I'd love to go back and see the other half but it's a long haul (and costly) from Canada!

Happy cruisin' in 2001

I do find it a little sad when someone uses CruiseTalk to do their research on a ship/line that they have already booked, but never come back to tell us how it went! Of course it is their prerogative.

I recall a woman, earlier in the year asking about her forthcoming cruise on the the SS Ausonia. Unfortunately she never did return (well to CruiseTalk anyway) to tell us how it went. I would have been interested to know.

Feedback is vital to this web site. We always need both positive and negative reviews. Just because we have maybe 20 reviews on a ship, the standards of service and food etc. may have changed?
