Has anyone had experience with the new dining policy Carnival is trying out on some of their ships? They are suppose to be having two dinner times for early seating and two for late. On some ships late dinner is either at 8PM or 8:45PM. I know you can still request either early or late seating but who decides on which of the two times? If we requested late and ended up with 8:45PM that would be too late for us. Is it hard to switch dining times? Any info would be appreciated.

It seems to me that with that many dining times, somebody is going to end up missing a portion the evening show. There are only two seatings for that, normally.

0845 is way too late. I would have to drink lots of coffee for that dinner.

I have not been on Carnival since the change but I have never had a problem changing tables or dining times on any ship.

If it's important to you to dine at a specific time I would call Carnival guest relations directly on the 800 number and make sure it is in the computer for the correct time you want. We went on the Imagination while this change was taken place and while we had early dinner we were arbitrariouly assingend the later early dinner, which was ok but I can see where 8:45 is way too late. Nobody told us about the change either so at least you are forewarned and forearmed.

When I booked our reservation on the Carnival Destiny, I was informed that the dining hours are 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. My TA pointed out that one of the problems with free-style cruising is that people are walking in and out of the shows. We booked the 6 p.m. seating to avoid this problem.

When my whole family traveled aboard the IMAGINATION last year we were assigned first seating part B at 6:45 pm. It really was not a problem for any of the 11 of us. We all made the evening shows just fine. I think splitting up the seatings probably makes the dinning room service a little better for the passengers; our wait-service was certainly good. I did not hear any grumbling amidst the other passengers aboard about the new times either.

I would certainly tell your travel agent about your seating preferences for any cruise , and if there is a medical reason for having to be at a certain seating let the reason be known. For some lines will not guarantee a seating unless there is a medical reason. One seating is traditionally more popular than the other on some lines, and if the line does not have your preference you might end up at the seating that you don't wish to be at but with fewer passengers.

Does anyone know if this dining room change affects the Sensation? We have late dining Which may be ok,(we had early last year on the Boler and really enjoyed that) But I would not want to eat at 8.45. That is way to late. Anyone know anything about the Sensation???

Hooked, all of Carnival's ships are going to these times, so if your on the late seating you could very well wind up with 8:45 if you don't say anything. I would certainly check with your t/a or carnival directly.
