I'm sailing on the Statendam May 6-20 on back to back Alaska cruises. Sailing time is listed as 5pm with emmbarkation at 3pm. This seems extremely late in my experience.

Can you board earlier, other lines usually start around 12-1 pm. Would like to get on as ealy as possible to allow time to wander around Vancouver before sailing.

Thanks for any advice.

Doug

Taking into account that all passengers will not be off the ship much before 10:00, it's doubtful that boarding will commence before the time stated.

Keep in mind that Stewards, etc. etc. have to work like the clappers of hell to get everything shipshape for departure at 17:00.

You could always ask your TA of course.

Happy cruisin'

....dougH... you'll love vancouver......when i go down to the canada place cruise terminal for lunch during the summer....i would notice passengers boarding at about 2 p.m....things to see are gastown...lots of tourist shops, but is vancouver befor we started to grow 100 years ago (3 minute from pier)...next you can see more of vancouver if you walk up burrard street and have a break at the hotel vancouver bistro named "griffins" then walk along robson street....lots of fasion shops and lots of starbuck...gheesh.....or you can come and say hello to me at the Hudson Bay department store in the shoe dept. on your way back.......anyways....that should take you about 2 to 31/2 hours....have fun...jeff

Jeff - you forgot Stanley Park & the Aquarium. Loved Gastown and just wandering up Robson Street, stopping in for a Pastry at one of the little cafes - heavens I am talking 15 years ago - hope these places are still there.

....well sympatico....every year a store closes it's doors due to the hight cost of rent on robson street....the more unique the store...the more the rent goes up due to the clientele walking about.....your right about stanley park and it's sea wall and aquarium...but i will not give info on the aquarium due to my beliefs on captive animals...besides i'm sure dougH will see some free whales along the inside passage....jeff

DougH - If you have the time and any interest in the native peoples of the northwest the University of British Columbia has a wonderful museum in Vancouver - marvelously laid out with great collections.
