I noticed in our wonderful 'Readers Review' section, menu left, that there is only one review of Millennium! I'm sure more of you have sailed this ship?

This is just a reminder that any Cruisetalker can submit a review of their cruise. Not only will your comments be immortalised, you will help the rest of us choose our next cruise.

Reviews can be as long or short as you like!

I found Celebrity to be just a little too American for my British tastes, mind you I should have expected this!

yes, Malcolm, it is too American, for your British taste and for my German taste.

I remember the time of Greek Chandris - it was better.

But for the prices of Celebrity, when using one of their special offers, they make a fantastic cruise.

And i knew before booking, that it is very American, so it is no disadvantage.

Very expensive drinks are no problem for me -
i drink juice and ice tea for free.

Very expensive Excursions are no problem, too.

I make all my cruise excursions myself.
I use Taxis, my feet or public transportation in the Countrys we visit.

I thoroughly understand your distaste for American entertainment. I recently sailed The Danube aboard the Viking star. The crew show included an outtake from the popular German musical "Milch". Very exciting, especially when the pretty milk maids banged their milk pails on the floor!
Sail On, good buddy.

The TravelPage review seemed rushed. They said, "this ship has no characetr" for many of the Celebrity ships....

Mark Goldberg must not be thorough in his reports.

Jesse C, in former times, each Chandris Ship has his own Character.

Now, Celebrity, an daughter of Royal Carribean is an Industry Product.

It has an high standard for payable prices, but no Character. I sailed on the Mercury, Century and Millenium. It is always the same.

The former times will not come back.

For an industry product, i myself prefere Celebrity.

It is not possible to compare an show on an 2000-person-Megaliner to one on an little
River Vessel. Viking River Cruises is an
big, cheap company. It is not possible, to make in a small river vessel an show in
Las-Vegas-Style. There is not enough space and the costs will be to high.
On an big ship, there are up to 2000 passengers to pay for the show, on an River Vessel the amount of passengers is on most of them under 200.

I have cruised on the Mercury when she was a new ship. She was a impressive, spacious and clean ship, with very good facilities - but I agree, no character!

I can't even define what "character" on a ship is, I just sensed that she did not have much!

I'm sure that newer ships can have character and ambience, but which ones?

Hallo, Malcolm,
the big Cruise companies have for their ships Standards, everything is on standard, so this is the death of individual Character.

Celebrity for example has outstanding food program for one week.

My cruise with the "Mercury" in 1998 was 18 days.

So i got the food of day 2 again on day 9 and on day 16.

When i think about "The Victoria", former "Dunottar Castle" or "Amerikanis" former "Kenya Castle", those ships are individual in their character.

For entertainment they have an great Greek show of the Crew, as the Russian ships in their best time have an Crews Show, that often was better than the Programme
of the Western Singers, Dancers, Jugglers
or Bands on board.

This is, what i mean with "Character".

Big ships today are anonymous hotels.

They have no ship-feelings.

Apparently, satire doesn't translate too well.
