I'm booked on a repositioning cruise out of Boston late Oct, 2001 on NCL Majesty. There is very little info on this ship anywhere. Have I made a mistake? Feedback, please!!!

We were on the NCL Majesty on one of their weekend cruises last year and I have to admit I was not at all impressed with them. I have done ship inspections on Norwegian cruise lines and again have not been that impressed, however having said that I think they are likely to imprive with Star Cruises running them.

We sailed on the NCL Majesty two years ago to Bermuda and were VERY disappointed. However, I think we are spoiled as we always sail Holland America and there is absolutely no comparison. The cabins are very small, and food was not very good and the Lido area was always dirty. Hopefully, you will find it better than we did.

Hey,
I went on the Majesty in 98 on a cruise to Bermuda. I absolutely loved it! I would do it again in a heart beat!

I went on Majesty last April Boston to Bermuda. And sailed Norwegian Sea this summer. Ship wise I love the classics so I am hard to please. I like NCL's treatment nothing wrong with it and met nice people. What I paid was discounted quite a bit so it was a bargain on both ships. They are ships but nothing special. The Majesty tends to be a "pig when seas are rough" according to what I read at the time. This was very true. We hit rough seas (unusual 20-30 swells). We don't get seasick so it wasn't a problem. I enjoyed the trip and so should you. This summer I was able to sail two different cruises because of the Sea's bargain. However, I would sail again on either ship given the opportunity.

On the Plus side, the ship is a great way to visit Bermuda and wonderful from New Englanders (no flights involved.) It is also a pretty good value for the money. However, on the Negative side, we did the 15 night repositioning cruise last October and having cruised many times on the RCI ships we found it nothing at all like them. No where near as good in the entertainment dept., in the service rendered, and the cabin was smaller than our bathroom at home. No kidding! The buffets were awful, and we always got bad seats in the showrooms. We wouldn't go again on any of the NCI ships.

Our first cruise was 4 years ago on the royal Majesty. (before Norweigen bought it)it certainly was a nice ship..but not the most elite thing on the seas. I think it's partly how far ones nose is in the air, as far as how they would rate it. I am down to earth and not pretentious. But there were a few very pretentious people at our dinner table, that I would bet would give it a bad review.
It was our first cruise so we had nothing to compare it with...also it was a very discounted price which helped....but...I was very pleased with it. It was a small ship and our rooms were small, but we weren't in them much. I noticed the vibration when cruising and some swaying that sort of nauseated me. But that was only a few times..other than that...it was wonderful. Clean...good service and great food.

Yeah, this ship has a very interesting early history, but I can't remember all of it! I'll give it a try (no doubt someone else on this board will be able to add or correct details): The ship was ordered by a Scandinavian company for short cruises around the Aland islands, in between Sweden and Finland. Then Wartsila went bankrupt and the customer withdrew. Masa yards, Wartsila's successor founded by a number of customers (including Carnival) then went on building the ship for their own account. Somewhere during construction the ship was then sold to Greek interests who formed Majesty cruises with this ship. Anyone have more details, or am I wrong somewhere perhaps?

Cheers
