In light of the past few days, I wonder if people and some of the crew will start to take this part of the cruise experience more seriously.

Hi Peter, Have never had any problems with the crews, but some people just don´t care. Why not put them ashore! And Cruisin is Great!!!

I wouldn't worry about the crew - I would worry about some of the cruisers (esp/ the first timers), who seem to think it's all a joke! I can't tell you the number of cruises I've been on where people are wondering about drinks in hand, joking and laughing during the instructions - it makes me cringe - it's a pretty darn serious event and I would think that what happened in 1912 should be reason enough to pay attention, let alone the past week.

I agree with your comments. Most people think that boat drill is a joke. On our very first cruise, there was a man so drunk that he could not stand.

These drill vary from cruise line to cruise line. The most professional drill we've seen was on the Grand Princess. They were very realistic about the dangers presented by a cruise ship. While this depressed me at the time and I wished that I did not need to hear it, it meant that the cruise company had thought these things through.

Boat drill is not a game. If people listened, they would know what to do. But, since they don't listen, they won't know and will panic in an emergency.

Better content and delivery by the cruise lines is important, but we all have to listen and ask questions if we don't understand. This will help everyone.
