I agree. June through October is technically Hurricane season so I would be careful about that time of year. I've been to Bermuda the first week of September and had perfect weather - ditto for the Bahamas second week of October. Sometimes it's just your luck, too.

frazib: I have not heard of a time when people are told not to CRUIZE! I do believe that the hurricane season is July 1 through November 1 in the caribbean. If you go into search and use "hurricane Season" you should come up with alot of input. We have been on a cruise ship that skirted a hurricane. Go and have fun. Kevin

The high hurricane season here in Florida occurs around September 10th. We had one cruise booked in mid-July and had a hurricane go by our home -- just missed our Nordic Empress cruise. We encountered another hurricane at the end of August when we were on the Celebration. There was a late-season November hurricane when we were on the Grand Princess. We went to San Juan instead of St. Martin.

On our trans-Atlantic cruise on Vision of the Seas, we ran into multiple "old" hurricanes which became north-Atlantic storms.

When I book our cruises, I try to stay away from the end of August through mid-September. If you encounter a storm then, it is likely to be stronger.

Caribbean huricane season is June thru November. The beauty of cruising is that you can get out of the way if a huricane is coming at you.

In Nov. 1999 we were in the southern Caribbean about to sail from Barbados to Antigua when Huricane Floyd (I think that was the name) came across and every port in the Caribbean closed the day we were to visit Antigua. We instead turned out to the Atlantic Ocean, ducking behind the storm, and had a lovely day at sea.

The next day we turned back to the northwest and docked as scheduled in St. Thomas the following day.

We missed Antigua (so what) and the storm (hurrah).

If we were vacationing the entire week on an island in the Caribbean we would have been in BIG trouble.

Keep on cruising. It's the best!

I was also sailing the Caribbean in November of 1999. We had torrential rainfall and gale force winds. We had one day of sunshine. We we aboard HAL's Ryndam. I've cruised 5 times and this was my favorite cruise of all! All the more reason why cruising is the best. We didn't need great weather to have a wonderful time. When you vacation on one island good weather is a definite must!
