I got a call from my TA yesterday morning. She had just checked with HAL and found out that they had lowered their rates for our 1/13/02 cruise on the Maasdam. HAL is going to be refunding us almost $500!

Maybe I'll use the extra $ and visit the spa 3 times like Mrs. malcolm!

In the UK we NEVER get money refunded if the rate of a vacation drops!

O.K. Ruth, I'm going to reveal my big secret. A good friend purchased a 'Celebration Package' for us aboard the SS Norway. This in fact paid for Mrs.M's 3 visits to the spar!

I'm far too mean and broke to spend that sort of money, on so called 'beauty' treatments! In fact I am more than a little sceptical about what goes on in those 'scary' places! However, I don't doubt for one minute that you women 'fall' for it all, and of course enjoy it.

Mr's M will only be too happy to confirm that I am mean!

I also got a refund from Carnival for our November 19th cruise. My TA sells a lot of their product and this is our 5th cruise with them.

I think this is only fair. We have not cancelled and should not be penalized.

By the way, this occurred after our final payment was due.

Aww, Malcolm, you've just destroyed my illusions about you! Too mean?

Unfortunately, I think the drop in the cruise fare is a direct result from the decrease in the travel industry here in the US following the terrorist attacks.

Same with us! We made our last payment in the beginning of September.

That is funny...I have not heard anything from HAL. I just paid the last payment to the Christmas cruise on Rotterdam.

Do most TA's do that? I we are going christmas week and I noticed a price drop I don't think it is lower than whta we are paying at this point. If it does go lower should I say something, or does it depend on the agent?

I have found that Christmas/New Years prices rarely drop in price. It would be nice surprise, if they did.

Just came back from seeing our T/A at AAA. We went because we are scheduled Oct. 2, 2002 on Royal Caribbean. We knew they had changed the ship and we wanted to know what that meant to us. When she called, they gave us our new cabin assignment and a reduced rate. (Sounds good to us). Might be a good idea for anyone who is booked for next year to check with their T/A.
