My bet is "Royal Princess Cruise Lines".
Who has another idea?

The are currently referring to the new organization as:
"RCP Cruise Lines"

This taken from the PowerPoint presentation prepared by P&O/Princess Cruises.

My suggestion is:

Royal P&O Cruises

Keep in mind that Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises together are officially "Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited", and Princess is officially "P&O Princess Cruises". I like the idea of taking the first word from each company- this sounds nice and keeps the P&O names will all of its wonderful history, heritage, and tradition- it really is the most identifiably part of all.

I agree with Skyej and for the very reasons that were stated. Also Royal P&O is appropriate too, as both Great Britain and Norway have constitutional monarchies.

Hope I don't sound crude, but I hope they don't pick Royal P&O. I don't know about other countries, but to an American ear, it sounds like a short way of saying "royal pain in a**". I like Royal Princess and I am assuming that the companies will still be run seperately like the Carnival companies are and Royal Caribbean and Celebrity were, thus the public will still have Princess and Royal Caribbean.

This is part of the lengthy press release issued today by both companies:
"The combined group will be renamed on complection with P&O Princess and Royal Caribbean each taking the new group name"

Since the stock symbl for P&O is POP - I suggest to call the new company:
THE ROYAL POP
Does the merger make sense? I don't think so
these merger manai is all but a reflection of poor management and the overbuilding of the past. Those cost savings always mentioned by mngmt. in most cases a result of loss of jobs.

"Royal Princess" is very classy but "Peninsular & Caribbean Steam Navigation Conpany (P&C)" would be more appropriate to British taste.

...or the 'Caribbean Royal And Peninsula' cruise line?

On a more serious note, do we knowe if they plan to keep the individual Brand Names? It would be a real shame to loose the historic name of 'P&O'?

Well - of course there is tons of speculation but apprarently both companies will continue to be traded on their respective stockmarkets so who knows...

I do see it be a challenge for the industry as I can see that Carnival may decide to support only those agents who support their ENTIRE line-up and the same w/ this new company.

The Pay for Performance model is just around the corner - agents had better really look at who they're selling - it could make for some interesting times ahead.

Some more from the press release issued by both companies:
"Combined group will be renamed on completion with the corporates entities of P&O Princess and Royal Caribbean each taking the new group name"
"The combination will be achieved through a dual listed company (DLC) structure. The combined entity will be managed as a single, unified business with principal corporate office headquarters in Miami, Florida and a significant corporate office in London"
My conclusion - this is a real merger with a rising company under a new name!

So the historic name of "P&O Cruises" will be lost forever!

I wonder if the name of "Cunard" will go the same way, in the near future, if Carnival seek a global brand too?

Speaking of Carnival, I heard a rumor that they may be making a bid for Princess. Talk about monopolies!

When I remember names like United States Lines, Moore-McCormack, White Star Line, Canadian Pacific,Pan American, Eastern Air Lines, Santa Fe, Rio Grande, Southern Pacific and many many others, I can guess what will happen to Cunard some day in the future.
Can somebody imagine the Princess ships with the colorful Carnival decor ? Ugh!
