This may seem like a silly question but is there an airport in Port Canaveral? Our Ta says there is and she has flown into it many times! The problem is we have asked many people some of them TAs and noone else has heard of an airport in Port Canaveral. This is where we sail from March 9 on the pride ( Carnival) We don't want any surprises when we get off the plane. Please if anyone knows anything about this airport (or lack of) let me know ASAP. Thanks

Unless they're using the Air Force base, Orlando is the closest. Be prepared for lots of people wearing mouse ears on the flight home.

Hi Mariner, your reply worries me! What can I do when she has already told me that "there is an airport and I have flown into it many times!" Is she lying to me? How can I fix this or get concrete prove that there is no airport? HELP PLEASE.

There are a number of 'airport locater' websites,

here's one. Type in Florida and it shows all the airports. MLB, Melbourne is the nearest, but their own website shows very few commercial flights. There is a small regional airport TIX, and heliport at Titusville, but no commercial flights there.

Orlando, MCO, is always referred to as the nearest airport for Port Canaveral and it's less than an hour away. Maybe ask her which airport she is referring to, by name or code as you want to see exactly where it is on the map? IS she booking the flights? you should the details before she books.

Pam

You will either fly into Orlando or Palm Beach from Toronto. If this is a fly/cruise booking you will have transportation between the aircraft and the ship. Who is your booking made through Do you have your airline tickets yet. When you do let us know what they say and we should be able to help you.

of course there is an airport at Canerveral. You just have to be booked on the space shuttle to get there! Seriously I don't think so, but call the T/A's bluff and tell her to get you a ticket there. And ask her to show it to you on the map.

Hooked On Cruising...

If your TA tells you there's an airport at Port Canaveral - GET A NEW ONE...the main airport for ships sailing out of this port is MCO (Orlando) - it is about 45 minutes away - and although not a bad drive is not one that I would want to do if I expected a 5 minute drive from airport to pier.

Good Luck - as sad as it is to say - Geography is still one of the greatest areas lacking in a Travel Agents training.

BEFORE any seasoned travel agents yell at me - I am referring to the training they receive in school TOADY...I get so frustrated when I speak at colleges and realize their lack of cruise training...travel agents are professionals and many have built their amazing reputations on their own NOT through the schooling they've received.

There is an airport in Daytona, which is approximately a half-hour drive to the Port on I-95. I think it takes smaller jets.

It is most likely that you would fly into Melbourne or Orlando. Both are considerably further away.

It's official there is no airport in port Caniveral. After many many calls to our TA this past few days she said it was a genuine error she meant Fort lauderdale and not port Caniveral! As it turns out that was still wrong info since we are as you intelligent folks all knew we are flying into Orlando. God help us we may not be in the mood for Micky ears!! This vacation has been a disaster from the get go. I think the worst part is that our TA does not seem to want to take any responsibilty. I would have more respect for her if she did. There has been more going on than just this incident about the airport. read my earlier post. Thanks for all the information you guys are awesome! I am still looking forward to our cruise I will be glad to get the tickets though Who knows where we will be stopping on the way there and back. Thanks again

Sorry to have left you dangling Hooked. Was busy, but I see others jumped into the abyss.

If you had more time, I would have done one of two things.

1) Called Carnival and dumped by TA and handled the arrangements myself. Nothing sends a message like a lost commission.

2) Went to another TA and transferred the booking. Same result as 1, but someone else does the grunt work.

Hope things work out. I'm sure all will be forgotten once onboard. And just have that Disney spirit for the flight home.

As a Canadian booking in Canada with Carnival, it would have been more difficult for you to transfer your booking to the cruise line. You are either booked through your TA with a wholesaler, hence you could not transfer the booking or you could be booked air/cruise and the air will be with a Canadian carrier and Carnnival will not take that on. Here in Canada it is often better to do cruise air as we do not have the choice of airlines that the US does, also frequently the cruise it put together with charter air which has been bought by a wholesaler as a block booking to match their cruise bookings.

I never realized Canadians never had that option. But it figures since your govt doesn't want you bringing too many smokes or too much booze back from abaord! LOL

Our Canadian 'duty free' allowances are not affected by the
the airline on which we return to Canada. I doubt yours are either!
