Celebrity Cruises, has announced “Celebrity Escapes,” its foray into child-free cruising, is fleshing out the concept. The program will feature four different voyages -- an 11-night Caribbean cruise on Millennium (September 23 departure from Ft. Lauderdale), 7-nights on Mercury in the West Caribbean (October 25 from Miami), a 7-night Western Caribbean on Horizon (November 17 from Tampa) and a 10-night Hawaii sailing on Infinity (November 28 from Honolulu).

Beyond the no-kids component, however, Celebrity’s areadding complimentary wine, which will be served with dinner each night and a free happy hour in the evenings. Bloody Marys and Mimosas will be on the house at brunch. The line also plans to extend hours at the Thalassotherapy pool and the AquaSpa.

The sailings are limited to passengers over 21.

I also recall reading somewhere else, that these cruises were selling quite slowly, which is why they added in the complimentary wine and drinks.

Our family has just returned from a Celebrity Cruise, the Millennium. Our children are 13 and 15 and we were shocked at how little they did for the teenagers. They appeared to have a nice program for the younger children but those that were 13 to 17 really didn't have much to do. They were chased out of the disco at 11:30. They didn't have any type of teen disco and when I asked the cruise director, he said they would set something up for them the next night. Guess what? They didn't. This was our 14th cruise as a family and we have been on many lines. The kids loved Holland America and Princess. I don't think we could get them to go back on another Celebrity cruise.

GOOD....no offence to the parents of the world....but it is nice to go on a cruise and not see kids of any age taking the ship appart or for that matter bumping into a very young couple engaging on what the parents would not believe...if they kept an eye on them of course....that was the "rhapsody of the seas" mexico cruise a few years back....oh yea...i also noticed a few deck chairs being tossed overboard by a couple of kids one late night...around 1 a.m.....the officer that night after passing on the message said that if caught...they would have them ordered to the cabins with the parents behind them as well...but could do nothing unless witnessed by any crew...unbelievable....jeff

Sylvias post seems to typify the problems so many of us try to avoid.

17 year olds roaming a cruise ship at 11.30 at night unsupervised and looking for action are a recipe for disaster.

As a 17-year old, it pains me to say this, but all of the negative comments about my age group are true. I am often apalled at the levels of immaturity and irresponsibility that seem to appear only while on vacation. Teenagers like those that threw the deck chairs overboard are the reason why my auto insurance is over $1,300 per year- a few bad apples have given us all a bad name.

Britanis, it isn't just teenagers, I've seen worse behaviour from older adults who should know a lot better. People do silly things on holiday whatever age. Personally I think 13yr olds should have gone to bed by 11.30pm, and think that's late enough for a teen disco. 17yr olds are nearly adults and don't want to be classed with 13yr olds even if they are all 'teens'.

On a week after Thanksgiving Paradise cruise, the teen disco was busy every night with kids who should have been in school that week? Any wonder some cruisers will welcome adults only cruises.

I have met Britanis in person. We had lengthy conversations at the SS United States Celebration.

If most teens were like him, this thread would not be here. I can't say enough good things about him.

I was 17 in 1977, when the first Love Boat episode premiered.

My recollection of the 12-17 years was that I was too young to have fun in the clubs, but too old for the kiddy games. 18 was the drinking age back then too.

Most of us suburban kids were bored. Fortunately I
had a job on top of going to school, and could get to the city with ease. Being busy kept me out of most, but not all trouble. My hormones and delusions of immortality have balanced out

Live and learn.

I recall Princess now has a very advanced youth program which has specific activities for

3-6 yo
7-12 yo
12-15 yo
15-18 yo

on all of their ships.

I read on another board that Celebrity has 4 more No Kid cruises planned for 2003. The dates were 2/23, 6/2, 7/4, and 12/29.
