Hi everybody,

Here's a short message from the pacific ocean.

I am on the second day of the transpacific crossing to tokyo. We will arrive in petropavlovsk, russia in 4 days from now.

The weather conditions are very good, but there's a hurricane warning near the aleution islands. The captain, Peter Harris, just warned us for it.

The volendam is a fantastic ship, much better than the zaandam. This ship has more class.

The food is excellent en the crew is great.

If you have any questions, please post them below as i will check this board almost everyday.

Talk to you later.

Bernard, MS Volendam, Pacific ocean.

Glad you are enjoying, keep us updated. If you don't like bad weather, I hope it calms down.

Was wondering what one does in Petropavlovsk? What sort of tours are on offer there? A new part of the world to me, eastern Russia!

I've just looked at a few websites, the surrounding scenery looks wonderful, and a few volcanoes, but the city is the main shiiping gateway to the east, industrialised and 'monotonous' 5 story builings and old cars Interested to see what you find.

You may pass The Three Brothers these entering the Avacha Bay

Hi Bernard. I am a long time HAL cruiser. I was originally booked to sail with you, but changed plans and will sail on the Ryndam to Mexico and South America. My brother-in-law is on with you for the full 64 days. He doesn't go near the computor room so I am glad you are sending us the latest news. Take care.

Hi JKm7 & Koch, Have you ever sailed with Tri? He was on the Rotterdam 5 and the new Rotterdam. He kept the dining areas running smoothly. He was a great Maitre'd. My favourite Chef was Gunther. Apparently he is away studying to become a Hotel manager.

Hi everybody,

Here's another short message from the ms volendam.

The seas are extremely rough. we had a medical emergency with a crew - member last night and today a passenger had to be taken of the ship near dutch harbour on the aleoution islands.

so far everything has been very spectacular but most of the passengers are seasick. everything is very quiet atound the ship and the formal night has been cancelled.

I will answer your questions as soon as possible.

Talk to you later.

On the Cruise Critic board, another poster is on the Volendam and she is having trouble with the Internet Centre on the ship.Seems that half of the computers keep going "down" and the manager is having a helluva time sorting them out.She last posted either today or yesterday that they were going ashore in China to go to Bejiing(sp?)and then to see the Terracotta Warriors in a land -package,rejoining the ship at a later date.Maybe Bernard is having the same problem with the Internet situation AND maybe he is on this long excursion???

Anyway,I am sure he will be in contact as soon as he is able.Right,Bernard??

Terri Lee - in another post dated to-day, Bernard said he was home. He left the ship in Tokyo. Sounds as though he had a good time. It's under Cruise Ships "Anyone on the Volendam Now". Maybe you missed it.

I hope this goes through this time - something happened when I clicked on "add reply".

The Volendam is cruising the Sea of Thailand to-day and I am sure everyone is resting up after their arduous excursions. Tomorrow - Singapore - then they have a few days at sea stopping next at Broome, Australia, having skipped Bali.
Maybe the lady will be posting more after Singapore.
It's been an amazing trip!
