Get there early in the morning, even if you ahve to leave your house at 4am
From upstate NY, take the Taconic State Parkway, to the Sprain Brook, to the Saw Mill River Parkway and not have truck traffic and scenic views. The Saw Mill takes you right into the Henry Hudson Parkway [great views] which ends at 55 street where the cruise termianl is.

After passing Binghampton we took Rte.81 to Scranton,Pa, then Rtes. 380 & 80 to the George Washington Bridge. Across the bridge we took Rte.9a South, which became Henry Hudson Parkway.The road ended at the pier so we had no city driving.Parking at the pier was $18 day, tax included.Traveler's cheques or cash only - no credit cards. Parking area was well signposted.
