I saw a very brief report last night on the ABC World News Tonight about the government sending a warning to cruise ship ports and operators about possible terrorist activites.

Now, every day there is some new government warning about terrorist threats on bridges, railways, airports, malls, or tourist sites- but this one was kind of weird... not sure what to make of it.

Said something about boats with explosives (like the USS Cole bombing in Yeman) or underwater divers planting explosives onto ships.

Can you imagine the total collapse of the cruise industry if such an attact actually happened. 911 almost killed the airline industy, but people will always have to fly (for business and transportation) but people don't have to cruise. An attack will destroy the whole industry. I hope the government and lines are taking such attacks seriously- for saftey and business sake.

Here is a link to the story:
http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/dailynews/fbiwarning021121.html

No specific mention here of cruise ships- but it was stated on the tv report last night.

Anything is possible. It was before 9/11 and remains so after.

Guerilla tactics have always had a high percentage of success.

Taking prudent action is OK. Getting on with life is another. Brooding about news reports such as above and staying at home is just giving in and collapsing to our unseen enemies. Lets get on to more positive things.

My vacation time is very important to me. I know little or nothing about international terrorism, but I do put faith in those that are employed to protect the public. There are gaps and ways around everything in life. I however will not let the threat on such occurances deter me from travelling, by any means. Life goes on, and I will continue to travel as I have in the past. I feel more at risk driving to work, using a crosswalk, and am more concerned with travel issues such as proper sanitary standards, adequate fire protection, and capable air traffic control than terrorism threats. Don't let them win; live life as it should be!

it is thing you have to know of course , but I know that the modern cruise ships are not as easy to blow up or sink than 50 years ago , the damage that sank Titanic , Lusitania (torpedoed) , Andrea Doria , Britannic (Mine) , ... would be just a little damage to repair in the nearest port , but not so bad that ships like QE2 , Norway , Grand Princess , Carnival Spirit , Millennium , ... would sink !!

Why not attack an Cruise Ship? - This is an new, fascinating Target.

If you Guys live in Fear of some Terrorist Attacks and want to make an safe Holiday, here is my Suggestion, an very safe and great Idea:

TAKE AN HOTEL FOR BATHING IN BALI NEAR DENPASAR!!!

I am sure, they do not bomb twice at the same Place.
