To which Cruise Lines are you referring?
We've done at least three Christmas and New Year cruises on HAL ships, the decorations in public areas were certainly not tacky.
Many people brought decorations on board for their own cabins - glimpsed through open doors, some of them were what I'd call 'shopping mall tacky''
I have to agree with Green on people decorating their cabins.I have read about people bringing all kinds of stuff for their cabin. From their descriptions, it sounded tacky. I guess there is a lot of Griswald's cruising.
